Education policy consists of many components, the totality of which ensures the effectiveness of the whole process. This area includes many solutions, for example, the provision of medical services of various profiles to ensure the health of students. The purpose of this essay is to study the problems associated with advisory services in the field of higher education in the United States.
In addition to the physical health of students, their psychological state is no less critical. There are consultant services to provide support and assistance in achieving mental health (Francis & Horn, 2017). This assistance can be divided into various types and may be either short-term or long-term, depending on the severity of the person’s condition. The presence of a competent and qualified consultant is significant for any educational institution since often studying at universities and colleges is closely associated with stress.
Enormous responsibility and strict requirements are imposed on students by teachers. Besides, for many people, admission to a higher education institution is a sharp change in the environment. Because of this, many scholars develop various psychological abnormalities, including stress, depression, and even suicidal thoughts (Francis & Horn, 2017). Thus, qualified consultants are essential for the successful functioning of the institution.
However, at the moment, employees of these services cannot cope with the situation in colleges and universities. According to statistics, the spread of various psychological deviations has been growing lately (Francis & Horn, 2017). The timely intervention of consultants assists the entire educational process as a whole since reducing stress also helps to establish grades, which ultimately leads to successful graduation. The psychological state of an individual requires constant study and adaptation, and people who deal with this issue should constantly self-educate to provide better services. Fortunately, lately, counselors have increasingly been asked to intervene in the learning process, evaluating students’ health (Francis & Horn, 2017). Nevertheless, attention to this problem should not weaken, new methods for assessing the condition must be developed, and thoughts on caring for mental health should be actively popularized.
Thus, educational policy is also closely related to the condition of students. At the moment, special attention is required to the problem of students’ psychological well-being, which is getting worse every year due to increasing pressure. Therefore, it is necessary to actively develop the direction that monitors such deviations, namely, the consultation service.
