Diabetes Type 2 and Related Lifestyle Challenges

It is clear that diabetes is continuously becoming a big challenge. There is more than one type of diabetes: type 2 seems to be the most challenging one. A comprehensive treatment for diabetes has not yet been developed, however, it is claimed that with the right diet and engagement in physical exercises it is possible to reduce the effect of diabetes. In particular, diabetes type 2 has been associated with lifestyles and such as being obese and reduced engagement in physical activities. Aging has also been pointed out as one of the risk factors for diabetes 2. Although diabetes 2 has been associated with older people, it has been noted that the young people are quickly falling victims to it. Obesity at young ages has been blamed for the type 2 diabetes in young people. Other type 2 risk factors which have been brought to book include the social class to which a person belongs. Social classes have been associated with the kind of lifestyle that leads to developing diabetes. The level of stress and depression that one is exposed to also has been noted to play a significant role in causing diabetes type 2. A number of complications have been associated with diabetes 2. The complications associated with diabetes have been noted to include heart complications, complications associated with the kidneys among others. It has also been noted that diabetes can take a very long time before being noticed.

The period it takes for diabetes to be noticed has been estimated to be approximately around 12 years. The implication of this long period is that diabetic people end up picking more than one type of diabetes before being noticed or showing any symptoms. The cost of diabetes is quite high and overwhelming. From research, it has been shown that diabetes has a great social effect on diabetic people; for instance, it has been noted that diabetic people tend to be short tempered and particularly when the glucose levels have raised. The short tempers are characteristic of temper tantrums and it has been noted that such outburst of hunger are risky for the diabetic person as they increase the level of glucose on the body. It also has been noted that family members of a diabetic person are quite significant. The members of the patient determine what kind of social life such patient leads. Diabetes 2 can be brought under control by the use of Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP). This was tried out in the Pennsylvania and the results were quite positive. The program was compared against the usual care over a considerably long period of time (three years). The results indicated positive result in favour of the program. The Markov decision model was applied to make the comparison between the DPP and the usual care. The comparison showed that the DPP was better off because on an annually basis, the costs were noted to have been reduced by at least three percent. Diabetes 2 is a serious complication of diabetes. It has been noted to take a very long time before it can manifest its symptoms. It has been shown that by the time the diabetes symptoms show up, the subject is probably suffering from more than diabetes 2. There is a need for people to contact medical practitioners for medical check ups. Early discovery of diabetes is significant as it plays a huge role in reducing its effects on the body.
