Different states suffer from various illnesses. It is apparent that they have a vital influence on the communities, as they change the lifestyles and attitudes of inhabitants. A primary goal of this essay is to analyze what illnesses affect the citizens of Miami, Florida (zip code: 33125). Three diseases such as Measles, Meningitis, and Influenza were detected, and each of them was evaluated. Furthermore, it was discussed what influence they have on the community and how they were identified in the action plan, which was described in Healthy People 2020.
Chosen illnesses
Firstly, it was important to evaluate and discover which diseases affect the community the most. As it is apparent that not all of the diseases and illnesses have the same impact on the lifestyle, emotional state, behavioral patterns, and health. In this case, it was important to focus on illnesses, which affect Miami, FL the most, as there is no necessity to evaluate aspects with no potential influence on the community.
One of the illnesses, which currently affects the county is measles. It could be assumed that this disease still takes place, as, according to Healthy People 2020, it is necessary to maintain high vaccination levels (Healthy People: Children receiving 1+, 2013). Moreover, it is also apparent that the vaccination process stabilized, and it is maintained on the high levels for several years. Nonetheless, it still has the influence on the community.
Another illness is Meningitis, as it is also included in the action plan. It is clear that this illness also affects the community, especially, the adolescents, as the Healthy People 2020 focusing on providing vaccination from Meningitis to the 80 % of the population by 2020 (Healthy People: Adolescents, 2013). It is apparent that this illness has a vehement impact on the community, as the vaccination coverage has to be increased, as it remains rather small.
Lastly, influenza is the last virus, which currently affecting the community. It is apparent that it has a particular influence on the people’s lives, as Healthy People 2020 follows the tendency to increase the vaccination coverage of Haemophilis influenzae type b vaccine (Healthy People: Children receiving 3+, 2013).
In conclusion, it could be said that the necessity of description and possible effects of these illnesses have to be determined, as all of them are included in the action plan of Healthy People 2020. Consequently, each disease has to be evaluated separately to determine its potential impact. In the next section of the paper, each illness will be assessed and discussed separately in the context of Miami, FL (zip code: 33125) with the help of the literature review.
Measles and Its Effect on the Community
It could be said that Measles dramatically affects the community. It is apparent that the vaccination coverage has to be increased, as it spreads quickly and gets transported from one human being to another rapidly. For example, the case with the cruise ship, which was traveling from Florida, is rather disturbing, as the crew did not have proper measles vaccination (Mitruka et al., 2012). In this case, the virus was spreading rather fast.
It is apparent that this illness is rather dangerous, as the mortality rates still remain high (Naim, 2015). Moreover, some complications might include disabilities. It is vital to focus on the development of suitable vaccine and expand the coverage, as it might save human lives, not only in Florida but also in the other states and countries. Now, it is apparent that it has an adverse impact on the society, as people experience pains and may even not stay alive until the end of the treatment. Consequently, people struggle both mentally and physically in my community.
Now, the reasons for the development of the action plan are apparent. It is clear that the primary goal is to decrease the number of infected children by increasing a specter of vaccination (Healthy People: Immunization, 2013). It is superficial that children do not have a well-developed immune system. Consequently, focusing on this part of the population will help avoid risks and decrease the number of people, who are infected in future.
Meningitis and Its Effect on the Community
It is apparent that Meningitis also has an adverse impact on the community, as its symptoms are vehement and dangerous. Moreover, it is clear that the symptoms might vary, but its effect on the society remains the same. As children usually the ones, who experience the illness, their parents are under the high pressure, as they are scared of the possible complications of the illness.
Moreover, the illness symptoms such as fever, headache, and vomiting, are rather severe, and adversely affect a normal social life of a human being (Abuhandan et al., 2013). Furthermore, children and adolescents might experience the complications in future due to the etymology of the illness. It could be said that not only children and their parents experience challenges, but also other members of the society, as a family is an important segment of the community.
As for the action plan, it is clear that Healthy People 2020 want to prevent the spread of the illness by providing sufficient vaccination and increasing the coverage of the vaccine (Healthy People: Immunization, 2013). Focusing on adolescents will help have a healthy young population. This action will reduce the mortality rate.
Influenza and Its Effect on the Community
Lastly, it is apparent that Influenza also has an adverse impact on the society. Despite being seasonal illness, it still referred as pandemic since it rapidly spreads from one infected person to the healthy one. It is apparent that no vaccine is present, as the current one can only ease the symptoms of the illness (Haaheim & Katz, 2011). Nonetheless, a current situation is different than it was in the past. Even though the vaccine is more effective now, it still cannot adequately prevent the infection of the healthy organism. Moreover, the influenza virus has a tendency to mutate and adapt to the vaccines. It can be concluded that it has an adverse impact on the society, as it still remains pandemic and affects a large number of people in Miami, FL (zip code: 33125).
In order to prevent high spread of the illness, it is necessary to increase the number of people vaccinated, as it will decrease the spread and the complications of the illness (Healthy People: Immunization, 2013). Nonetheless, the government of Miami (zip code: 33125) also has to pay a significant amount of attention to the development of the vaccine, as it is apparent that the virus can mutate.

In conclusion, it could be said that it is vital to evaluate and determine the potential influences of illnesses on various communities, as it help see the overall path for the improvement. Nonetheless, in this case, it was determined that Influenza, Meningitis, and Measles have an adverse impact on the community of Miami (zip code: 33125), as they have active complications, ability to spread rapidly, and involve high volumes of stress. It is apparent that it is necessary to improve the physical and mental conditions of the people. Consequently, it remains a primary area of focus of Health People 2020. The main goal related to the improvement of conditions of these illnesses is providing sufficient vaccination and in-time treatment for reducing the spread of the infections.
