The time of the source’s creation is known to be one of the hardest in U.S. history. The Civil War and political fight for slavery abolishment brought up social issues. The point of this essay is to analyze the period, the world, culture, and atmosphere during the “Americanizing” of Native Americans.
U.S. politics aimed to unite people of diverse cultures and make them citizens of one country. Native Americans had to get rid of their tribal culture; African Americans were integrating into society. The World’s concentration was on racial identity, and the political aim to socialize different cultures was a top priority.
The minorities’ culture suffered immensely from such an intervention. The denial of their identities imposed an American lifestyle. The author of the source was the government that took control of inhabited lands.
The U.S. politics were to conquer new lands and socialize the savages (Prucha, 260). The mission succeeded at the price of demolishing existing cultures and racial identity. The essay discussed the historical source of “Americanizing” Native Americans and provided insight into the world and culture during this period.
