Leadership: The Key Principle in Nursing

The healthcare system requires managerial strategies to deliver the services proposed effectively. Medical practitioners have the role of caring for their patients and ensuring that they reach the intended goal, which is patient recovery. In doing so, there are strategies and schemes that they have to adhere to in actualizing their roles in the institutions. These strategies include team structure, communication, leadership, situation monitoring, and mutual support. The detailed schemes are also known as principles of actualizing nursing purposes within medical institutions. Team structure ensures the joined and cooperative working together of all integral components of a team. Medics must work in a structured manner and ensure that their dependent duties are actualized without any hindrance. Communication is the agent that brings team members together. Having good communication results in good results within the health care system enabling members to effectively carry out their intended roles. Leadership in nursing and the healthcare system ensures that actions are understood and the necessary resources are provided for adequate service provision. Situation monitoring entails assessing situations within the health sector, while mutual support assesses the needs of team members concerning service provision.

Leadership is a principle used daily within the health care sector. Leadership is crucial as it encompasses all other TeamSTEPPS components in nursing. Leadership entails the accountability factor for all team members while practicing in the system (Peters et al., 2018). Being accountable means that the team members understand their roles and are responsible for their actions. Leadership paves the path for effective communication within the team and allows for situation monitoring to be actualized. Mutual support comes clear with the existence of a strong leadership system in the workplace. To advance the effectiveness of the service provided, leadership must be advanced in that the various components making it up are updated and used in a way that allows the team to reach the intended goal. If I were a manager, I would adopt leadership and as a TeamSTEPPS strategy and continue using it in the healthcare system. Integrating leadership with communication, team structure, leadership, situation monitoring, and mutual support will help as a new way of implementing it within the system.
