To my mind the people with abnormal and maladaptive behavior include those who have problems with alcohol and drugs; it means that they are alcohol and/or drug addicted. These people should get some assistance from the outside world, because they cannot struggle with this pernicious habit by themselves (Ware, 2000). For this very purpose there exist a great number of special hospitals and centers which can provide services for those who experience abnormal behavior. So, I am going to tell you about the addiction treatment programs of the Watershed Center. This agency, like many others, provides specific services for people with abnormal and/or maladaptive behavior. This center includes a great number of different programs, suchlike medical detoxification, inpatient rehabilitation, residential rehabilitation, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and halfway house-sober living (The Watershed Treatment Programs Inc, 2009), all of them are extremely important.
This place is called the Watershed Center. “The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs, Inc. is a behavioral healthcare facility treating chemical dependency with locations in Boynton Beach, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Lake Worth, Florida” (The Watershed Treatment Programs Inc, 2009). “The Watershed was incorporated in February of 1998 by a small group of addiction professionals and investors in order to meet a chronic and desperate need for addiction treatment services” (The Watershed Treatment Programs Inc, 2009). The Watershed’s founders wanted to establish the agency which would provide addiction treatment. This agency belongs to that type of professional associations/organizations which offer “affordable drug treatment and alcohol rehab to individuals suffering from drug addiction and alcoholism” (The Watershed Treatment Programs Inc, 2009). This agency provides a wide range of services to people of different age ranges; it presupposes specialized programs, suchlike dual diagnosis, women’s program, men’s program, young adults, professionals, family outreach, and alumni and aftercare (The Watershed Treatment Programs Inc, 2009). One more aspect that may be essential for the report is the fact whether the agency receives Federal funding or is funded from some other sources, investment programs. After getting the information about the insurance coverage:
“The Watershed accepts most commercial health insurance plans and we will work with you to make any uncovered amount affordable so that this is not an obstacle to getting help. Some of our patients and their families who are not covered by health insurance self-fund their treatment” (The Watershed Treatment Programs Inc, 2009)
I can make a conclusion that the agency does not receive Federal funding, or it is partially funded by the Federal reserves and the other part of the financial contributions is made by the patients and their families. The source of that part which is possibly funded by the Federal programs can be from “The State of Florida (FL) Department of Children and Families” (The Watershed Treatment Programs Inc, 2009). As for the types of licensing or certification held by the agency, the website of the agency gives all necessary information concerning this issue: “The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs are “Gold Seal” accredited through The Joint Commission” (The Watershed Treatment Programs Inc, 2009). The Watershed Center is licensed by the Department of Children and Families (Florida).
The facility provides both residential and outpatient services and some other kinds of services, suchlike inpatient rehabilitation, residential rehabilitation, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and halfway house-sober living (The Watershed Treatment Programs Inc, 2009). The Watershed Center provides medical (medical assistance for patients), counseling (free 24-hour helpline) and educational (Psychology Internship Program) services. Thus there are also training requirements for staff. Thereby in the Watershed there are employment opportunities, which allow every one who is a skilled professional in the sphere of alcohol addiction and rehabilitation to obtain a position. The website contains the sort of information about the vacant positions for which the applications are accepted. Also there is the Watershed Predoctoral Internship Program for doctoral candidates working in the sphere of psychology (The Watershed Treatment Programs Inc, 2009).
As for the national affiliations, the Watershed is the member of American Society of Addiction Medicine, National Association of Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Counselors, National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers, National Institute on Drug Abuse; the local affiliations include Florida Department of Children and Families and Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association (The Watershed Treatment Programs Inc, 2009). The Watershed is a member of all these societies and organizations, because mutual cooperation contributes to increase the level of medical assistance, the methods of treatment and other specific medical issues.
I have conducted research on the special agencies dedicated to providing services for those who experience abnormal behavior. Thus I have chosen for the analysis the information about the Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs. This center helps people to get rid of the alcohol addiction and take the cure for alcoholism. During the research I received different kinds of information about the mentally ill people, about the ways of rehabilitation, the range of services which are provided to patients with help of different facilities (inpatient rehabilitation, residential rehabilitation, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and halfway house-sober living). The Watershed is an establishment which simply treats its patients.
