Introduction
First of all, there is a vital necessity to mention that the perception of the world and the surrounding occasions differ from human to human. Initially, everyone has their background of life experience, various occasions originate various feelings and emotions, and different events may be regarded from multiple angles and other viewpoints. (Ishaq, 2002)
Discussion
As for the matters of the situations that cause people’s different attitudes, any example may be given. Probably, the best instance will be some case pictured in a movie. “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” is a tragedy of two men with deadly diagnoses: brain tumor and bone sarcoma. They drive away a car by the plot, then rob a bank and aim to reach the seashore to see the sunset. On the one hand, they violate the law and should be legally punished.
Nevertheless, the audience sympathizes with them: both are living their last days and wish their dreams came true. Martin passionately wishes to present a Cadillac to his mother, and Rudy wants to see the sunset at sea. Indeed, this story is rather touching, and the sentimental audience would even shed a tear even though they robbed a service station, a bank, and a drug store.
On the other hand, two different characters in this movie, Hank and Abdul, perform the same things. However, they aim to return the stolen Martin and Rudy’s car and kill them. Indeed, they are pictured as negative characters.
The audience’s sympathy may be explained by the fact that both Martin and Rudy are aiming to get everything out of life for that tiny period that has been left for them. Martin and Rudy’s romantic aim makes an impression that they deserve forgiveness. (Woodworth, 2001)
The end of the movie makes people forget all the crimes which two main characters have committed, and the image of the sunset at a seashore, and Martin, dying on Rudy’s knees makes people smile through the tears, as sunset is the key to Heaven’s Door.
Indeed, if Martin and Rudy were not dying, if they did not have such a romantic goal and did not touch the hearts of the audience with sorrow and charm simultaneously, their actions would be judged by everyone, as the lack of these factors would make them average robbers or adventurers. Nevertheless, they not only originate sympathy, but they also light the people’s hearts, saying that dreams must come true. And this message is given with the notion that rules should be violated. In any other circumstances, this would be negatively judged by people.
Conclusion
Indeed, not everyone regards their actions as righteous and deserving forgiveness. For police, Martin and Rudy are simple robbers. For Mafiosi – they are the targets, and for the hospital’s doctors, they are the patients who escaped. In the light of this fact, it should be stated that the perception of the action, which people perform, seriously depends on the circumstances and facts they know about the judged people. Anyway, any activity and event may be regarded from various angles and different points of view. Consequently, it is hard to find objectivity in the world, which is perceived as subjective.
