The Washington State University Vancouver is the educational establishment that values the rights of human beings and does everything to protect them. The Student Media Board of the University is charged with the protection tasks, and the two positions in this board are of prominent importance. These are the Chair of the Student Media Executive Board and the Student Involvement Manager of the Board Faculty.
Thus, the Chair of the Student Media Executive Board is in a rather important position in the organizational structure of the Board. The Chair heads the Board and it is the Chair to whom the lists of the student candidates to the Board are submitted during the Spring term. At the same time, the Chair is appointed by the voting decision of the Student Media Board members. The Chair is selected in May and starts fulfilling his/her direct duties at the start of the Summer session. The important point about the position of the Chair is that he/she is re-elected every academic year, while the ordinary Student Media Board are in their positions until they decide to leave them or graduate from the University.
The direct duties of the Chair include heading the Student Media Board meetings, supervising and overseeing the activities of the Board as a whole, consulting of the meetings’ findings with the Vice-Chair before their disclosure to the whole Board. Maintaining and handling the primary resource binder of the Student Media Board is also among the direct duties of the Chair of this Board. The Chair is also responsible for handling the media relations of the Board irrespective of the fact whether these relations concern newspaper or online publications. Finally, the communication with the Student Involvement Manager on behalf of the whole Student Media Board is a primary duty of the Chair.
At the same time, the Student Involvement Manager is also an important position in the Washington State University Vancouver, although it has different functions from those held by the Chair of the Student Media Board. The first thing to notice about the Student Involvement Manager is that this position is the heading one in the structure of the Faculty and Staff Membership of the Student Media Board at the University. The whole structure consists of eight positions, and the Student Involvement Manager is on its top. The major function of the Student Involvement Manager in this structure is to serve as an advisor to the Student Media Board, its Executive Board, and the Chair of this Executive Board.
There are four major requirements to the Student Involvement Manager, as well as to all other members of the Faculty and Staff Membership of the Student Media Board. These include having considerable experience in the field of the program this manager is assigned to, having enough time to combine work and study, displaying a desire to work, and respective skills required for the position of the Student Involvement Manager.
The direct duties of the Student Involvement Manager include such points as to advise to the Student Media Board and its Executive Board, to serve as a signature authority in all activities of the Student Media Board related to fees and financial operations. As well, the Student Involvement Manager is the person whom students and other related persons can contact during the summer months, and whom the faculty and staff members can contact in case of any necessity.
