Treatment Planning and Caregiver Competency 38

Summary

Treatment planning is a process of collective interaction where healthcare staff and a patient establish a composed report that differentiates significant care objectives. The procedure achieves this by portraying quantifiable and time-delicate activity ventures toward accomplishing the intended purposes with anticipated results (TAP21, 2017). The method also mirrors a verbal understanding between an advisor and a customer. The individualized treatment plan also tends to distinguish substance use disorder just as issues identified with treatment progress. The process also incorporates family members, psychological circumstances, well-being concerns, social connections, and any other legitimate requirements.

Competency 38

Competency 38 is about knowledge, skills, and attitude in the caregiving profession. Firstly, knowledge is about maintaining the client’s confidentiality, including the contents of the therapy and the fact that the client is under treatment. For instance, if clinicians meet their patients outside of treatment, they would not be in a position to recognize them. Knowledge also comprises how a client is given information on their assessment data. Communication may be effective where the sick person is allowed to pass their ideas, and the therapist communicates in kindness, thus helping in improving the mental health of the ailing individual. Moreover, knowledge also includes how the patient is provided with information regarding their assessment results. In this scenario, a talk might be remedial, which means a physiotherapist who approves the clients’ viewpoint or communicates compassionately may help them recover both emotionally and psychologically.

Secondly, skills may refer to combining assessment results and summarizing the outcomes into a more understandable form. Furthermore, abilities deal with assessing how a client understands the clinical valuation. Thus, the therapist can translate the person’s diagnosis evidence to attain the treatment’s goal and objective. Skills also enable the therapist to communicate with the client sensitively; that is, they need to acknowledge and embrace the patient’s culture and any other ethical issues, including gender, developmental level, client race, and age.

Thirdly, attitude is the caregiver’s ability to understand how biasedness can influence assessment results and any other crucial information when one side is favored over the other. It also enables the patient to respect others’ roles in helping in various ways, thus enabling the client to recover. Thus, this ensures that the patient appreciates what others have done for them. This occurrence is important to the sick person as it helps in advancing the healing process.
