Von Wong on Environmental Pollution Awareness

The subject of the study discussed in the following review considers the works of Mr. Wong and their significance in raising environmental awareness. The thesis of the study is that there is an intrinsic need for environmental awareness to ensure the protection of the Earth, and art is a way of reaching wide audiences. Ecological sustainability and the solution to the pollution problem can be achieved by combining the forces of all people and corporations on the planet. Wong is primarily an artist, but he acknowledges the cultural power he and his fellow creators have and strives to use it for the benefit of humanity and the planet (Berube, 2018). While environmental changes and the fight for sustainability are complex matters, it is vital for people globally to comprehend the extent of the problem and contribute to their best abilities.

By using photography and materials such as plastic straws and bottles, Benjamin Von Wong expresses his concerns about the environment, presenting the issues in a way that is engaging and incites empathy. As a photographer passionate about the environment, as well as other socio-political issues, Mr. Wong raises awareness for important issues by presenting them in a memorable way, such as with his sculpture of the mermaid tail made from plastic bottles (Wong, 2019).

By creating images and statements using materials symbolic of the ongoing pollution problem, Wong captures the attention of those that are otherwise indifferent. Therefore, people become more involved with the issue that has the potential of ruining the lives of billions, if not all people, in the future. Although one might feel intimidated and helpless in the face of the magnitude of the problem, little actions done by each and every inhabitant of the Earth would add up to a large impact. Therefore, raising awareness is vital to creating the momentum necessary for change.
