What Are the Future Trends and Challenges in Health Care Quality Improvement?

Introduction

Healthcare is faced with various challenges in the United States especially economic expenditure and risks associated with the patient’s health. This is noted by increased cost of insurance premiums which only cover a small percentage of human health. Thus, those who cannot afford it have less access to goods health which is a strong indication that something has to be done to ensure that in future, such issues are handled effectively. It is the role of medical practitioners with the support from the government to unearth the main issue. If the problem is adequately addressed, then health care will not only be accessible but also affordable to most citizens in the United States and other parts of the world as well. Healthcare reforms should be geared to change the trend of healthcare provision in the U.S. for the better.

The Challenges that are to be countered in health provision includes developing healthcare that is reliable and danger free which arises from medical errors not only for the sake of the patients but also for medical practitioners. In addition, healthcare has to put into account the health insurance accessibility for all and at the same time consider the interdependence of quality care, the public health and the financial costs incurred. Also, healthcare is faced with a challenge of ensuring that its quality is not compromised and is offered based on evidence especially for chronic illnesses. However, for the sake of the future, struggle to overcome the challenges is not to be left entirely as the role of the government and that of medical professionals but patients together with their families should cooperate for the proper issuance of healthcare. This is achievable through medical research whose aim is to provide standard health for the citizens. For the future trends to be better, researchers should be funded adequately, supported with appropriate facilities and should be properly trained to facilitate their input. Moreover, accurate data collection, evaluation and analysis and appropriate measurements such as tracking the practices of the practitioners and patients assessments could be applied to strike an equilibrium between the standard of healthcare offered and the economic impact for the best clinical-patient results in future. Patients’ requirements are the key factors to put in to consideration for future U.S healthcare improvement. Quality in care towards the patients has to be based on proper leadership and application of strategies that would enhance it effectiveness (Ransom et al, 2008).

Conclusion

To counter the challenges present in health care, it is the role of medical practitioners to equip themselves with the professional expertise and to avoid ignorance of the ethical and legal issues arising from the practice. They should apply the requirements of the medical practice such as proper documentation of patient’s information which is essential for the patient’s health to be monitored properly. For instance, the Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) bears the responsibility of taking measurements from the patients guided by medical research, professionalism and clinical trials. The agency also engages in health insurance provision, disease management, monitoring quality standards in organizations, and offer education programs to the public and also to the practitioners. If these services are offered constantly and effectively, then it puts necessary tools essential for the future development of quality of healthcare in the country. (Dlugacz, 2006)
