Introduction
The pharmacy provides the access to multiple types of medication that patients would not be able to purchase otherwise, including prescription medicine. Therefore, pharmacy is an essential element of the healthcare institution. When receiving medication from a pharmacist, it is important to be aware of the extent of the pharmacist’s competency and their knowledge of the subject matter. In addition, it is critical to receive recommendations for nonprescription medicine, which suggests that providing consultations is another crucial aspect of a pharmacist’s job which is relevant to most patients.
Main body
The application of telepharmacy to the management of patients’ needs has led to several important results, such as the drop in the number of cases involving mismanagement of information. For instance, my personal experiences with telepharmacy have led to a sizeable improvement in the process of receiving the needed medication. The cases of receiving a wrong type of medicine or an incorrect dose have been minimized, whereas the records of me purchasing the necessary items and consuming them have been stored effectively for a physician to access the specified data whenever needed (Telepharm). As a result, my health issues have been addressed more effectively and with greater diligence.
Conclusion
However, telepharmacy has several problems, such as the lack of supervision by pharmacists. Although the human factor implies dealing with a certain degree of uncertainty, communication with a pharmacist allows obtaining essential side information, such as other options for treatment, possible issues to be expected when consuming the medicine, and similar concerns. Telepharmacy, in turn, offers very little customer support, which implies certain risks. Therefore, a combination of live communication and telepharmacy is desirable at the present stage of its development.
