The Purpose of the Nursing Philosophy Statement
The sample philosophy of nursing statement aims to equip nurses to use a patient-centered approach. It indicates which data should be used when caring for a patient and how to behave. My critique narrative, which clearly shows the professional standards used in my critique, is focused on the fact that the nurse is recommended to pay attention exclusively to the facts (Bail et al., 2022). At the same time, the emotional component of the patient’s well-being is not mentioned enough.
The philosophy statement examined the specific domains of nursing practice, including the personal qualities that a nurse should possess. In addition, the statement considers the domain of the actual background, which should be used in the treatment. Professional nursing values, beliefs, and ethical principles are listed in this standard to define a nurse’s behavior with a patient. They primarily consist of protecting the interests of the patient. At the same time, professional standards instruct nurses to use only verified factual data.
Factors of the Development of Personal Philosophy
The factor influencing the development of my personal philosophy of advanced practice nursing (APN) is the position of the teachers with whom I have collaborated. They were real masters in their field, and to learn from their experience, I listened to their professional opinions.
My APN personal philosophy statement aligns with the APRN Consensus Model and my advanced practice specialization. I focus on caring for patients while preserving their independence as much as possible (Bail et al., 2022). I learned this philosophy from reading, literature searching, and personal nursing beliefs and values. My philosophy statement links to specific NP leadership behavior and competencies to improve the patient’s quality of life. Preserving their independence meets the attributes of professional nursing philosophy.
Personal Attitude Toward the Nursing Metaparadigms
My thoughts, feelings, values, and beliefs about the nursing metaparadigm and philosophy statement are similar in that they are based on patient care. I feel and appreciate the importance of every person I work with. Therefore, I can explain my APN philosophy statement and the nursing meta paradigms as a sincere desire to help each patient to the best of my abilities and capabilities.
A Grand and Middle-Range Nursing Theory Compatible with the APN Philosophy
There is a strong linkage between my nursing philosophy statement and meta paradigms, the Consensus model, my APN population specialty, and specific leadership behavior and competencies for APN practice. They all aim to achieve a positive patient outcome. The interrelationship of the nursing meta-paradigms lies in the purposeful and systematic relationship of imagination and creativity in patient care with scientific justification (Bail et al., 2022). Using the scientific base and experience accumulated by a generation of doctors is necessary. However, at the same time, each patient is an individual, so nurses should choose a creative approach to establish contact with each patient.
A middle-range nursing theory most compatible with my philosophy is autonomous patient orientation, which is designed to preserve the patient’s independence as much as possible. The selected theory’s concepts are interpreted to respect the patient’s interests. The theory aligns with the metaparadigms corresponding to the main goals of nursing. My final statement is that the proposed sample philosophy of nursing professional statement is reasonable, but requires clarification for a bigger patient benefit.
