Various companies adopt business management approaches in order to stay efficient and thrive in the global market. Maintaining a beneficial relationship with the customers and multiple partners appears to be a remarkable strategy, which allows the organization to restructure the traditional resource management approach. In this work, the concept of strategic orchestration will be discussed in connection to the Airbnb Company, a widely known international corporation.
The expansion of any firm requires the managers to find a viable strategy. Developing an extensive network of partners and considering the needs, both material and emotional, of the firm’s clients is an advantageous plan of action, usually defined as strategic orchestration (Sull and Ruelas‐Gossi, 2010, 60). This concept can be exceptionally rewarding for large-scale companies, as it grants the ability to cooperate with other market representatives while simultaneously addressing the clients’ needs and desires.
A prominent example of an organization following this strategy is the Airbnb company, a large international platform connecting travelers and house owners. This foundation was established in my country of origin, the USA, specifically in the state of California, in 2008 (Airbnb, 2021). This corporation relies entirely on bookings created by their clients, avoiding the need to own properties or produce specific goods. The American home rental platform facilitates connections between homeowners willing to sublease their vacant rooms and travelers who require lodging. Instead of controlling the property owners or catering exclusively to them, the company addresses the public need to choose between various suggestions (Airbnb, 2021). In addition, Airbnb ensures that the hosts and their clients do not communicate directly and imposes specific protection policies that become forfeited if the clients decide to interact outside the platform. The company addresses the hosts’ needs by protecting them from untrustworthy customers while guarding the travelers against non-secure transactions.
To conclude, the Airbnb organization and its implementation of the strategic orchestration approach were discussed in this work. It is evident that the company follows the guidelines of this strategy and establishes a secure connection between specific social groups, allowing them to receive special bonuses for utilizing the company’s services. Airbnb occupies a lucrative niche of lodging, supplying multiple travelers with accommodation options and simultaneously catering to homeowners in need of tenants. By limiting the possibility of direct interactions between the customer groups, the organization successfully orchestrates the network.
