Barriers to Research Spreading in Nursing

The knowledge-sharing process in nursing often has many barriers that the researcher should overcome. The research in the nursing sphere always includes the interactions with the patients, which involves the difficulties related to their safety and rights protections. Another problem can be associated with the reliability and validity of the methodology and collected data. The question of intellectual property can also be a significant problem when sharing the research results. Therefore, there are three significant barriers that the researcher in nursing should overcome.

Considering the current research question, the work with patients through the questionnaires should be held. In order to ensure high-quality research execution and future sharing, the researcher should discuss the question of the patients’ proper protection and their consent to participate in the research (Gerrish & Lathlean, 2015). Describing mentioned aspects will contribute to eliminating the first barrier. The problem of reliability and validity should also be appropriately represented. The question of why particular methods was chosen for estimating the level of patients’ anxiety should be addressed.

The procedures and approaches should be theoretically analyzed to prove that they showed the results that comply with the research’s initial aim (Gerrish & Lathlean, 2015). Preventing potential biases from the researchers’ and subject’s perspectives is also essential. The data collection and analysis techniques should be chosen according to the bias prevention norms (Dehnaviech et al., 2018). As far as the research question touches upon the moral state of the patients, the possible limitations should be described. The last barrier can be eliminated by a respectful attitude towards the used materials and approaches (Offredy & Vickers, 2010). The research question empowers the significant theoretical basis allocation, which should be accordingly addressed and cited.

The careful observance of all mentioned aspects can contribute to more reliable research and the elimination of the knowledge-sharing barriers. Professional researchers working in the academic sphere will eventually notice the problems mentioned above, which will negatively impact the image of the research. Therefore, it is vital to prevent the occurrence of possible barriers hindering the study from spreading on the stage of the work’s creation.
