Cher’s Live Performance “Dressed to Kill Tour” at the BB&T Center

Introduction

Lately, live music events have become very popular and almost every artist is striving to give their audience value for their money. The current demand for live music events seems to overwhelming the industry players. All the same, it is evident that live music gives the audience more thrill compared to playback sessions. I attended a live performance of Cher’s Dressed to Kill Tour at the BB&T center on Saturday may 17, 2014 and the experience was splendid. This paper seeks to describe, analyze and descried the event and its setting, purposes, and generally the performance of the band.

Who, when, where and why

The performer is known as Cher and she is an American singer and an actor as well. The event took place at the BB&T center Panther Pkwy, Sunrise, FL 33323, United States. This was one of the biggest events of my life and I really enjoyed the experience. It was an event meant to promote the singer’s 25th studio album. On stage, there were a number of people doing a lot of technical work as the event proceeded. The most spectacular thing about the stage however was the lighting systems and the graphics on the mega screens. One could clearly view the artist from as far as half a mile. The event organizers put a lot of emphasis on ambiance, which I think, was a good marketing strategy.

Audience behavior and response to the music

As the colors and glows lit the audience, the artists did not disappoint ton their part. The charming Cher who is a favorite of many Americans was amazing on the stage. She made a colorful debut with her proverbial vocal performance and her heart-throbbing costumes. The night event was characterized by unending screams of joy and amazement from the equally exited funs.

A description of the performer and instrumentation

On set, there were all types of musical instrument and players from major record labels were on stage to support the lyrical prowess. Cher had come with her bass guitar player and a number of her dancing crew. There was a disk jockey on the stage that played background music before the beginning of the show although he stayed on stage even after the show took off. Nonetheless, Cher gave the audience a performance of a lifetime. The show began with her firsts single “Woman’s World” which started with a very colorful introduction. She sat on a pedestal dressed in a glittering gown, which matched the color scheme in the background.

Performers’ skills and engaging the crowd

The entire night was full of activities from singing to advertising for her new album. At some point, she paused and had a brief monologue where she conversed with the thrilled audience. As she introduced the next song “Dressed to kill” which is my favorite, she began by sinking her teeth on one of her dancers. This was quite scary but thrilling at the same time. Then the next son played and a moment of emotions filled the audience as we all paid tribute to her late husband Sonny Bono. The most captivating performance for the night was her “Take it Like a Man” single where she came to the stage on a Trojan stallion wearing a gladiator costume. This was very amazing and the audience could not stop cheering her.

Performers’ communication among themselves

The band playing the music, the dancers, Cher herself, and the stage managers did a very commendable job that night. Everything was running very smoothly in such an amazing level of perfection. The singer was effectively communicating with her dancer in a way that most of us could not notice even the most obvious mishaps. The singer also would stop the music to converse with the audience and the band was quick to notice her momentary pauses.

Primary focus of the event

As I mentioned before, the stage was amazingly prepared with amazing color themes and a corresponding lighting system. To add on the stages amazing look, the audience had put gladiator attires and gothic costumes with most of the women in feathered headdresses. Clearly, this event was all about music. The audience also was ready to enjoy the event. Funs attended the event ready to celebrate their icon and the dressing code was evidence enough. Most of the people attending this event were dressed in gothic and gladiator costumes, which are symbolic of the singers trade mark. Primarily, the greatest percentage of the entire concert was about music and a show of skill and talent.

My best memories

The event remains one of my most treasured memories. I particularly enjoyed how interactive the singer was and how she engaged the audience through her verbatim interactions. Her spirited vocal prowess and her skills in dancing were amazing.
