Core Beliefs for Life in a Complex World: Wisdom, Trust, Resilience

Introduction

What distinguishes people from animals is the ability to think and form their own beliefs about what is right and wrong, good and evil. This essay will discuss the formation of deep core beliefs in more detail. Deep core beliefs are those judgments that determine how people shape their behavior and actions.

In general, they give direction and purpose, promote self-awareness, foster positive relations, and encourage personal growth. Such values are especially important in the modern globalized world with its multiplicity of opinions, massive disinformation, conspiracy theories, and manipulations. Therefore, wisdom, trust, and resilience have the greatest role in life.

Core Values

Wisdom

Wisdom enables individuals to make sound decisions, live fulfilling lives, and navigate challenging situations. It is acquired throughout life through reading the masterpieces of literature, accumulating experience, and interacting in society. In fact, the absence of one of these three elements may become an impediment to the elaboration of wisdom.

For example, without reading fiction and popular science literature, people cannot impact society through their unique view of the world. At the same time, the lack of social contact can create a distorted sense of the outside world. This problem often affects emigrants who no longer understand how their native society works since they are thousands of miles away.

It is also worth noting that wisdom does not mean the presence of any particular value system. For example, the Nazi leaders could explain every aspect of life through their misanthropic ideology. In the formal sense, their universal perception of life can be misleadingly regarded as wisdom. However, they cannot be considered wise since wisdom is outside any political framework and is aimed at the humanistic goals of enlightenment and love.

Trust

Another core value that is important for a meaningful life is trust in something or somebody. From the very first days, the sense of trust in the mother’s protection appears, which means that this belief is essential for living. In the following years, children begin to trust their best friends and teachers.

In a future career, the importance of trust is fully realized. When people work in a trusting atmosphere, they gain a sense of energy and productivity. It is expressed in the belief that colleagues will not spread confidential information, will do their best to meet deadlines, and will not hypocritically use others for their own purposes.

To receive trustworthy treatment from others, a person must be consistent with their values. In other words, trust is built when the behavior and actions align with a person’s promises.

For example, someone promised to do the project by the deadline. However, many new plans appeared throughout the week, interfering with the normal workload. In such a situation, the person should do their best to prove that the commitments to others are not something unimportant. Even if there is no way to solve the problem, one should properly explain to colleagues why the task was not done by the date approved.

Resilience

The last value here is mainly personal, which is related to building stable internal morality and persistence. Resilience is the ability to overcome difficulties and challenges without losing faith in the main guiding principles. In the modern world, one may see the most explicit manifestation of resilience in the careers of the most successful sports stars.

Serena Williams, the American tennis player, had a long career with periods of enormous losses and failures. Nevertheless, thanks to her resilience, she maintained the belief in the ultimate success that fueled her desire to fight to the end. Such a skill that many athletes have has an implication on the everyday life of many other people.

In today’s society, many people give up their dreams and settle for a lifestyle they do not want. The lack of resilience and positive stubbornness can explain it. Resilient people know that they are not perfect and, therefore, can make a significant number of mistakes. What is important here is to look at struggles and opportunities as the guiding lessons for self-improvement.

Conclusion

To conclude, this essay described the three most important core values that should be preserved throughout life: wisdom, trust, and resilience. In fact, these three values are highly interconnected because each contributes to the others. For example, the skill to overcome failures contributes to the development of wisdom. At the same time, the trust of the closest people may save us from depression and frustration after failures. In addition, such a set of guiding principles accumulates all other values since these three words summarize many aspects of social life.

Wisdom is also about faith in knowledge, the willingness to support others, and generosity. Deep core beliefs such as wisdom, trust, and resilience should be paid significant attention because the commitment to them should not be altered. People may change their political beliefs and other preferences, but core beliefs should stay intact through the years.
