Read Aloud Age Group and Setting
I chose the age category of children 3-5 years old. This category greatly needs movement, games, and exploring the world. At this age, games become collaborative, more and more children are involved in them, and role-playing interactions appear. The game becomes more complicated regarding content, number of roles, and role-playing dialogues.
Game actions begin to be performed not for the sake of the games themselves but for the sake of the game’s meaning. There is a separation between the game and fundamental interactions between children. Therefore, considering all these features, I decided to choose a learning environment where there will be an opportunity to read a book in a game format. The story will include pictures and quiz games.
Book Selection and Rationale
I chose the book Corduroy by Don Freeman. This book is about a little bear named Corduroy, who lives in a department store and dreams of finding a home and a real friend. One night, when all the buyers had left, Corduroy decided to go in search of his house. The next day, a little girl named Lisa came to the department store. She saw Corduroy and immediately fell in love with him.
However, Lisa’s mom did not let her buy a bear cub, saying they did not have money for it. He decided that if he became even more attractive, Lisa would return for him. Then he fell off the table and broke his button. However, Lisa bought it anyway, believing that with the defect, it was even more beautiful and unique (Freeman 35). Therefore, the main problem raised by the author is that despite any defects, the person is still valuable and loved.

Content Knowledge
The book explores the themes of friendship, family, self-expression, and the importance of self-worth. The book Corduroy by Don Freeman is ideal for a child’s development, as it teaches many essential skills (Freeman 20). The book helps children develop the ability to express their thoughts and feelings, respect for others, and an understanding that each person is unique. The book can also help children learn that a person does not become bad despite defects.
Read-Aloud Strategies and Techniques for the Book
Various techniques can be used to read this book aloud, including different voices and intonations for different characters, discussing illustrations, and using questions to discuss the book’s contents. I can also use repetition of phrases and words to help children memorize and understand the book’s contents. I chose this book because it has many pedagogical advantages. The book helps children develop many important skills, such as the ability to express their thoughts and feelings and emotional intelligence. In addition, the book meets the standards of education and upbringing of children, as it helps children develop reading and understanding skills and also stimulates conversations about the content of the book.
Self-Evaluation
On a point scale, I would rate my reading at 4.5 points. I have followed all the instructions regarding the book selection and age category. Moreover, I described the book’s plot and what it teaches children in the 3-5 5-year category. For reading, I use the technique of alternating intonation for different characters and illustrations, which will help the child concentrate on the topic and better understand the story.
