Effective Change Management Strategies at Booking.com

Introduction

Leaders are required to ensure that changes are implemented successfully in an organization. Cummings & Worley (2018) indicate that five activities can enhance the change management process. They include motivating change, creating a vision, developing political support, managing the situation, and sustaining momentum. This paper will analyze how leaders at Booking.com performed a full transition to Google Workspace from Office 365.

Change Management

The first step in implementing the change was to review the application of both Google Workspace and Office 365 at the organization. The review was part of creating a vision and motivating change as it informed the development of goals and desired results when Google Workspace is fully adopted. The forum was used to ensure that every employee understands the objective of the change and expectations. The leaders explained that the transition would increase efficiency. The management then allowed the employees and other stakeholders to share their views regarding the goals, purpose, and expectations.

To develop political support for the change, several employees were designated as early adopters to help promote the adoption of Google Workspace. The staff and investors need to know why there is a need for the change to happen (Cummings & Worley, 2018). Ongoing coaching ensures that the new procedures become the norm. The last aspect is to conduct a survey that will be used to create strategies that can ensure the change is sustained. This will include continuous employee training and leadership support.

Conclusion

Having been involved in implementing the change, a few issues can be improved. One of the aspects is communicating the change in a way that creates understanding for all stakeholders. This is crucial as providing transparent information can lead to the change being rejected (Cummings & Worley, 2018). Another aspect was creating a shared understanding before implementing the change. This will ensure that every team member understands their role.
