Medicine appears to be the sphere of active developments and constant improvements, as high quality of service presents a matter of importance. This way, the article “Effectiveness of Supporting Intensive Care Units on Implementing the Guideline ‘End-of-Life Care in the Intensive Care Unit, Nursing Care’: A Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial” is intended to advance a subsequent proposal. According to the authors, Noome et al. (2016), the improvements can be elaborated by applying evidence-based clinical practice (EBP) and proposing some guidelines. Therefore, the primary aim of the article is to analyze the effectiveness of supporting intensive care units on implementing the guidelines.
Different frameworks are used for achieving the aforementioned goal, but the predominant one is the stepwise approach. It appears to be extremely effective, as it implies considering all the details, contributing to providing the most rational solution. The methods of exploration involve establishing a special supportive program on implementation, leadership, strategies, and other aspects. One group has attempted to stick to the stepwise approach, another has followed the guidelines independently. Consequently, controlling the performance was perceived as an independent variable, and adherence to guidelines was a dependent one. Nurses of eight intensive care units have participated in the experiment, which presents a quite precise representative of the examined population. In order to assess the extent of effectiveness, questionnaires for nurses and family of deceased patients and interviews with nurses were used (Noome et al., 2016). The examination appears to be comprehensive, so this tool may be considered credible.
The analysis is presented in proportions, which is helpful for depicting the situation in the average of cases. The result revealed the increase in following the provided guidelines, which has a beneficial impact on the treatment according to families’ answers in the first group (Noome et al., 2016). This way, the main finding addresses the effectiveness of establishing a supportive program, and a special implementation plan should be stated in order to provide some improvements.
