Introduction
Practice as a DNP-prepared nurse involves applying advanced clinical knowledge to improve patient care outcomes and healthcare systems. DNP-prepared nurses strive to enhance patient care and outcomes by applying evidence-based practice, identifying challenges and gaps in care, and developing and implementing healthcare improvement initiatives. Furthermore, the ability to lead interprofessional teams in developing and implementing innovative care models to deliver high-quality, cost-effective treatment is required. As a requirement for a DNP-prepared nurse, staying current with new developments and research is essential to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Challenging Ethical Considerations and Project Management Strategies
As a DNP-prepared nurse, there are high expectations from the community. This course challenged me to think critically about ethical considerations and project management. It instilled in me the importance of adhering to ethical principles in healthcare delivery, program planning, and financial management as a DNP-prepared nurse (Shirley, 2020). Furthermore, the challenge faced in this course was understanding how to apply the ethical principles of autonomy, beneficence, and non-maleficence to healthcare decision-making, as well as thinking about how to manage projects effectively. However, it was overcome by critically analyzing case studies and applying ethical principles.
Consequently, an individual is prepared to practice as a DNP-prepared nurse by showcasing effective project management strategies. Foxx & Garner (2021) emphasize that a DNP-prepared nurse should clearly understand the steps in project management and be able to execute them proficiently. Through the course, I have acquired strong communication and interpersonal skills, which are essential for working effectively with a team to complete a project.
Additionally, being organized and detail-oriented helps keep track of the project’s details. Ultimately, a strong commitment to excellence is crucial for producing high-quality work that meets clients’ expectations. Therefore, this reading has helped me manage projects effectively and be aware of the ethical implications of my actions.
Preparing to Practice as a DNP-Prepared Nurse
Additionally, the course has made me familiar with the DNP role within healthcare teams and how the DNP can contribute to patient care across the continuum of care. It has enabled an understanding of how the DNP can direct and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes (Singleton, 2017). In my current role as a nurse practitioner, many patients with complex medical needs rely on me to be their primary point of contact and to oversee their care in collaboration with various healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare staff. As a DNP-prepared nurse, one should be prepared to take on a more active role in caring for patients with such conditions. With knowledge of evidence-based practice rules, I can use them to back my decisions.
Summary
The course has equipped students with the clinical skills necessary to promote quality improvement endeavors. Familiarity with tools and techniques for measuring and improving quality, as well as implementing initiatives studied in the course, is possessed. In addition to being prepared to work together with other healthcare specialists, my role as a DNP-prepared nurse equips me with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote and disseminate scholarly work (Bonnel & Smith, 2021).
I can support and disseminate scholarship through my work with faculty, students, and other healthcare professionals, as well as through my work with patients and their families. Regarding the implementation of the DNP project, some challenges have been encountered. A significant barrier is the lack of resources, with the significant challenge being the resistance received from the staff. Nonetheless, obstacles must be overcome and progress made with the project.
