Future American Society: Citizen Engagement, Rights, and Social Progress

Introduction

American society is rapidly changing and undergoing dramatic changes. The United States’ appearance in 20 years will depend not only on politicians but also on the support and acceptance of social movements. This essay will examine how the influence of citizen-related and political processes will manifest in the future American society.

The Future of the US

Looking into the future of the United States twenty years from now prompts contemplation. Will the next generations be comparably engaged citizens? With the increasing availability of information and social networks, young people may become more informed and active. Thus, they will participate in progressive movements such as animal rights protection, environmental protection, civil rights, and LGBTQ rights.

The future of society will be based on a balance between rights and responsibilities. Citizens need to realize that, along with their rights, obligations also come with them. Rights and equality will continue to play a crucial role. Citizens of the future will be held accountable for their actions, spreading good and welcoming change (Pew Research Center, 2018).

Due to increased levels of education and expanded rights for women, most women in the future American society are expected to be more actively involved in politics and public affairs (Akhmedshina, 2022; Heclo, 1999). National immigration rules will be more humane, and the rights of refugees will be better protected. Racism and discrimination will be strongly suppressed, and the rights of LGBTQ individuals will be recognized and defended(Perry, 2020). The future American society can potentially be more accepting and welcoming of diversity and inclusion(Bellah et al., n.d.; Chakravarthi, 2020). Finally, political activity might become a means to achieve compromises rather than further polarization.

Optimism about the future of the U.S. can be expressed. The past few decades have demonstrated that society is capable of adapting and improving for the better. The increased attention to diversity, the fight for social justice, and the strengthening of civic activity are all essential steps towards a more balanced and responsible society.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the future of American society remains open to change and dynamic development. The youth will likely continue to show interest in civic activity grounded in the balance of rights, responsibilities, and dialogue. The American society will not miss the opportunity to overcome the challenges of the past and build a strong future in which citizens will take part and be held accountable for their actions. Therefore, optimism regarding the nation’s future remains justified.
