Organizational Culture
Mission and Vision
The organization I have chosen to discuss is Google. Google’s mission is “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” Their vision is “to provide an exceptional user experience and make a meaningful difference in the world.”
Reflection of Mission and Vision in Daily Activities
Google’s organizational culture reflects these values in its daily activities. Google’s culture is based on innovation, creativity, collaboration, and respect. Employees are encouraged to take initiative and think outside the box in order to come up with the best solutions to problems. Communication between teams is open and transparent, and employees are encouraged to share their ideas and opinions (Bagga & Haque, 2023). Management approaches are flexible and allow for a high degree of autonomy and independence. Google values diversity and inclusion and encourages employees to have a global perspective.
Impacts of Culture and Leadership
The impact of Google’s culture and leadership on employees and day-to-day business is seen in how employees communicate, collaborate, and develop innovative solutions. For example, Google has implemented a program that encourages employees to spend 20% of their time working on projects of their own choosing. This program has allowed employees to develop new ideas and products that have had a huge impact on the company (Bagga & Haque, 2023). Another example is how Google encourages employees to share their opinions and ideas, regardless of their seniority. This helps create a more collaborative environment, which leads to better solutions.
Leadership Style and Personality Traits
My leadership style and personality traits fit into Google’s organizational culture. I am a strong believer in collaboration and open communication, and I strive to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their ideas and opinions. I also value innovation and creativity, and I encourage my team to come up with creative solutions to problems. I also place a high emphasis on respect and inclusion, and I believe that everyone should be treated fairly and with respect. Finally, I believe in giving employees autonomy and independence to do their work, and I strive to create an environment of trust and mutual respect.
