Mission
Unlike many organizations, Hewlett-Packard’s mission changes from year to year. The company’s mission has remained unchanged from 2020 to 2023. HP’s mission is “We earn customer respect and loyalty by consistently providing the highest quality and value. We achieve sufficient profit to finance growth, create value for our shareholders, and achieve our corporate objectives” (HP, 2022). The statement means that the firm produces distinguished products and services that help improve societies across the world. Consequently, the company is focused on quality products and services that are tailored to the needs of contemporary societies.
Vision
The organization’s vision is “To create technology that makes life better for everyone, everywhere — every person, every organization, and every community around the globe” (OMNIA Partners, n.d.). The vision statement’s meaning is two-dimensional: promoting innovation and global reach. Therefore, HP intends to promote innovation through its progressive technology and produce computers. Additionally, the company aims to transform the lives of people at both the organizational and global levels.
Mid-Level Change
Considering HP’s mission and vision statements, the company can consider disruptive innovation as its mid-level change (Palmer et al., 2022). Therefore, the firm’s mission and vision statements can focus on introducing products and services that perform better and at lower costs than its current offerings (Bocken et al., 2022). This change will allow the firm to displace its competitors in the market space and transform the computer production industry.
New Goals
HP’s new goals will be anchored on innovation, sustainability, and customer empowerment. The company’s target will be the greater global population interested in sustainable products at low costs. A stronger commitment to environmental sustainability through innovative products is crucial to improving the lives and livelihoods of HP’s target market, which includes business organizations and learning institutions, among others.
Guiding the Change
HP’s mission and vision statements are centered on unique products that help it improve the lives of societies at the global level. The mission statement can guide the change by allowing Hewlett-Packard to produce unique, innovative products of high quality and value. Consequently, the company will attract customers who are interested in sustainability, increasing its profitability. On the other hand, the vision statement can allow the company to create sustainable products that benefit its customers and the environment, impacting everyone. HP’s commitment to sustainability will improve the lives of the global community.
