Inclusive Education for Disabled People

Inclusion is attracting people with specific disabilities to the general environment. Inclusion in school is essential today, used very actively, and many programs are being developed for this. This type of education is necessary for people with physical or mental disabilities, as this is how they can participate in society. No Place’s article “Called Inclusion” by Cathy Pratt shows a slightly different vision of such an education system. The author discusses the importance of creating space for any person to succeed.

The main criticism and idea of the article are that people should not use inclusive education. That is primarily said in the context that inclusive education is not simply adding people with disabilities to classes (Pratt). For the author, this is a well-designed system that provides a separate program with unique features so that all children are in an advantageous position. Due to an incorrect understanding of inclusiveness, many schools do not help such children; on the contrary, they often harm them.

The author talks about the controversy of all programs that provide for the placement of children with autism classes. In such cases, the author proposes to change the system, which will primarily consider the interests of children, for whom this inclusiveness and joining the general society is essential. Furthermore, for Pratt, a vital part of the success of such inclusive programs is, first of all, the concrete success of all children in the class, not individual ones. Thus, success is an essential and critical indicator of the effectiveness of inclusion.

Along with this, Pratt provides various methods and ideas for solving problems when implementing inclusivity. First of all, the training of teachers and their training is essential. Still, people must understand that working with children with certain deviations is complex and requires much effort (Pratt). A second important tip is to make students aware and guide them to help children with problems because children will be able to improve the situation in which others find themselves.

Inclusion is important and should affect all children in the classroom. To correctly and qualitatively apply this type of training, it is necessary to organize measures to raise awareness among teachers and children. Moreover, in this context, it is worth knowing how to implement such a system qualitatively because it is worth studying how inclusive education should work correctly and rightfully.
