Introduction
Juvenile delinquency is one of the most important problems that needs to be addressed immediately and promptly. Thus, every community must pay attention to developing programs and interventions that will help limit this issue as quickly as possible. Therefore, the State of Milwaukee is attempting to change the situation of juvenile delinquency. These measures are the implementation of Wraparound Milwaukee and Youth Justice Reform, which aim to help minors. This is because juvenile delinquency can be addressed by early intervention and support for young people.
Current Juvenile Delinquency Reduction Programs in the Community
Wraparound Milwaukee
Milwaukee has a range of strategies and policies in place to address juvenile delinquency. Thus, Wraparound Milwaukee is a “wraparound service delivery program that integrates the mental health, juvenile justice, and other systems to address the mental health needs of juvenile justice system clientele (average age 14-15) and parental problems at the same time” (“Wraparound Milwaukee,” n.d., para. 1). This may be related to a theory that suggests deviant behavior occurs because of incorrect connections between a goal and the means to achieve it (Agnew, 2017).
Youth Justice Reform
The second effort in the community is Youth Justice Reform, which implies providing children with psychological and legal help and education (“Youth Justice Reform,” n.d.). Thus, it can also be linked to the theory that it helps to redefine how minors view certain aspects of life and how they are socialized.
Innovative Strategies for Enhancing Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Efforts
Child behavior change programs effectively improve a community’s juvenile delinquency prevention efforts. It has been noted that community delinquency prevention data is effective as part of this intervention in many states (Lewis & Salem, 2017). Moreover, it is possible to use a social development model that facilitates the socialization process of juveniles (Hawkins & Weis, 2017). This approach has contributed to reducing and improving adolescent behavior in many communities.
Conclusion
In conclusion, deviant behavior in underage children is an urgent problem. This aspect necessitates programs that help support and assist adolescents experiencing these types of attitudes and actions. In Milwaukee, interventions such as Youth Justice Reform and Wraparound Milwaukee are particularly effective. Bringing awareness and public attention to these programs will accelerate change in juvenile delinquency.
