Nursing departments have been performing different crucial functions in their daily operations. One of the functions is taking care of those patients who have some injuries in their bodies. To carry out their activities perfectly, they have not been ignorant of the new technologies that are coming up in these recent days. Nurses have applied different operating systems since the beginning of human civilization. The early methodologies were termed effective during those early days as human wisdom and knowledge were limited beyond this point. As a human being advanced in wisdom and knowledge, the transition occurred, leading to change in the operating systems. The change brought in new technologies that transformed from the old manual operating systems to more or less digital and analogue devices.
The nursing operating system advanced from the crude method which used crude tools like large devices such knife and sharp stones. They also include things like well-shaped sharp wood pieces and thorns. A sharp device like a knife was commonly used for cutting during surgery processes and amputations. The pointing devices such as thorns of the sisal plant were often useful in the removal of objects and other substances which were not deeply rooted in the body, i.e. they were operating systems that assisted in the removal of superficial situated. These old operating systems had massive disadvantages more than their advantages. They involved many health risks which could attribute to the contamination and disease transmission from one individual to another.
Due to the current demands of new safe methods, operating systems have changed with technology. Nursing practice has gained several alternatives and now they can operate their work out of hospitals. The health care settings have gone beyond the old formal limit by the introduction of home operations.
This has been enabled by the use of advanced operating systems such as infusion devices. These are being used by a patient with chronic conditions. One of the salient features of this operating system is its ability to support the self-administration of drugs/ medics. It is widely used by diabetics, women with high risks of pregnancies, and those who are suffering from other similar diseases which are semi-permanent and permanent and which require urgent attention.
Automated infusion operating systems are more recent. They are more effective when they are being used by operators with the necessary skills and knowledge. They are computer-based systems. It is critical to note that, if these systems are poorly designed, they can lead to enormous erroneous actions. However, when such operating systems are well constructed, they have an overall advantage which leads to efficiency in work performance.
Nursing care operators have found the operating systems to exhibit classic human-computer interactions. This in turn produces accurate feedback more than any other system. Some of the features which portray its disadvantages are complex and ambiguous sequences, alarms as well as multiple and poor distinguished modes.
Finally, numerous operating systems are in use today. This depends on the specific kind of operation required to be undertaken. For instance, operating systems on orthopedic implants are quite different from those used in the control of preterm labor. Generally, the system should have minimal smoke detection and they should be smokeless if possible, small in size, flexible and rotational. It should also have the ability to take photographs and intensify them for use. It should not produce harmful radiation such as X- rays or any other radioactive substance.
