Combined with a passion for medicine, my willingness to help others and offer both medical and emotional support can be deemed as the primary key factors that contributed to my choice of nursing as the primary area of professional interest. My value system is based on the importance of human life and the necessity to create an environment in which people will feel happy and contented. Therefore, my nursing and personal values are closely connected; furthermore, they can be viewed as the extension of social values that promote the idea of global well-being.
The emphasis that I place on the importance of human life, happiness, and satisfaction has evolved through a series of personal and professional changes that I have experienced so far. Particularly, I faced the situation in which I had to tend to the needs of a patient with depression. The strategy of promoting the connection between the patient and his family members shed a lot of light on the importance of family and community support.
Addressing the conflicts between the patient and his family members, I managed to assist in the bonding process. As a result, my values and nursing philosophy help develop the strategies that help meet the needs of the target population successfully by focusing on the family and community support.
In a nursing situation, my values and beliefs manifest themselves in focus on the unique characteristics of the patient. The emphasis on the use of cross-cultural communication techniques is kept so that the dialogue between a nurse and a patient should remain consistent. Moreover, the use of emotional intelligence as an additional tool for improving the communication process is often used. Thus, the foundation for building a long-lasting nursing framework for meeting the needs of a diverse population is created.
