Major Milestones of the Act
The principal stages that represent President Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act include a national preventive strategy, funding in public health programs, and the use of recommended clinical services for prevention (United States Congress House Committee on Health Care, 2010). The law defines insurance methods and mentions new models of medical care (Shaw, Asomugha, Conway, & Rein, 2014).
Act’s Benefits for Health Care Service
The adopted law allows solving the significant problems of American health care, which is of particular importance for the reason that since the 1960s, there have been no such reforms and changes in this sphere (Shaw et al., 2014). The merits and advantages of this document include better access to health insurance, improvement of the quality of services, as well as rationing the cost of treatment. The introduction of this act made it possible to improve the insurance policy, which previously had had some shortcomings. Moreover, as Shaw et al. (2014) note, the US health systems, which usually operated autonomously from one another, had the opportunity for denser cooperation.
Act as a Long Political Battle
From a certain point of view, this document is considered a very long political battle. The reason for this is that the act changed the health policy fundamentally, and many systems of this sphere were reorganized and changed. The work of insurance services, as it is known, brings a rather high income, and some politicians who were interested in keeping the activities of these bodies the same were against innovations. Perhaps, the desire to obtain particular spheres of influence in the face of new opportunities has become one more issue that has affected protracted political disputes.
