Introduction
Currently, there are justified fears that many popular professions will lose relevance. One of the main reasons for this is the development of scientific and technological progress, which creates artificial substitutes for human labor. The speed of scientific development suggests that computer technology displaces many professions in a fairly short period, creating a risk for students a few years later of being unclaimed. In this context, it is customary to speak of dangerous professions, the disappearance of which can suddenly deprive professionals of their positions. The key criteria that allow researchers to identify a stable occupation with no risk of disappearing include the involvement of the creative qualities of the individual, a high percentage of psychological involvement in the job, and the requirements for higher education.
Discussion
To ensure future employability, a student should avoid jobs involving one-size-fits-all steps. Such activities have a thorough prospect of being automated since they do not involve inventive abilities and solving non-standard problems (Brown, 2011). The algorithm for performing the steps becomes standard and can be used to create programs. The latter will be able to replace hundreds, sometimes thousands of employees.
Another trait of a promising profession is the interconnection of a successful working process with personal traits. Some scholars say that the most promising professions are teachers, scientists, doctors, and lawyers (Brown, 2011). Their work requires constant improvement and self-education. Tasks are not typical and require the inclusion of non-standard thinking and imagination. The quality of such work often depends on the employee’s personal qualities, temperament, and cultural background. Productivity is measured by the quantity of work performed and the quality of interaction with people (K. James, 2019). Technology cannot replace such professions since the latter cannot fulfill many important subjective criteria.
A vital quality for the group of workers who are not at risk of losing their employability soon is the ability to maintain actual technology and software that perform certain functions in an enterprise. Any technology needs quality control and an established system of technical support. Therefore, professionals capable of maintaining the operation of complex equipment will not lose their relevance in the foreseeable future (Brown, 2011). An important prerequisite for their work is a willingness to upgrade their skills against increasingly complex technology.
The next feature of a safe profession is the involvement of communicative skills in the process. The occupations requiring this ability include teaching, medical counseling, law, marketing, and human resources. Communicating with clients always involves the personal involvement of professionals; the result of their work will depend on how close psychological contact has been achieved between people (Brown, 2011). Moreover, such important components as empathy and the ability to persuade cannot be mastered by computer technologies in the near future.
Finally, high stability can be predicted for the professions that imply working in a multinational and multicultural environment have high stability. This is due to the effects of globalization and the informatization of society, in which the distance between employees and customers of the company ceases to matter. Within an international company, services can be provided to members of different ethnic or religious groups (Woolfe, 2002). Culturally diverse teams will always have an advantage and a development perspective. Education is an important factor in finding a safe specialty. People without a bachelor’s degree are less likely to be unemployed than those without a college degree. This is due to the large body of knowledge and interdisciplinary skills that are highly valued in today’s world and have advantages over mechanical labor.
Conclusion
While it cannot be guaranteed that there are jobs whose risk of losing a job will always be lower than most, specific criteria nevertheless allow people to reduce their risk of losing a job. These indicators are mainly related to the involvement of personal qualities in the work process. Education and willingness to improve professionally are also important since they allow a specialist to respond to ever-changing circumstances.
