Introduction
The future of technological and ethical development of society is undeniable. However, many issues need to be addressed about the well-being of the future generation. One such problem is a school shooting, which threatens children’s lives, leaving irreparable damage to the social order.
External Triggers of School Violence
Society often justifies the school shooting as resulting from the violence in the mass media. However, the psychological issues of people who are desperate enough to kill others are left without proper attention. Thus, school shootings, or rather society’s perception of this phenomenon, is my biggest personal concern. Based on internal grievances, an obsessive state arises that causes a thirst for revenge. It is easier for society to attribute what happened to the cruelty in social networks and blame computer games and films for it.
Internal Motivation for School Shooting
However, this is not the main problem. A mentally healthy person who does not experience pressure from loved ones does not need to take revenge and kill people. The primary trigger is always negative emotions such as loneliness, betrayal, fear, and resentment, anger, resulting in deep depression (Chatterjee).
Prevention of Violence
Therefore, it is essential to provide people with a tendency to psychological instability with professional support. These actions can help reduce the damage from the school shooting. However, it is more accessible and more comprehensive for people to find the reason for shootings by blaming the outside factors.
Conclusion
In conclusion, legitimizing violence and killer role models undoubtedly influence shooters’ minds, but these factors are not crucial. The unwillingness of parents to accept and understand their children, which leads to the formation of traumatized personalities, is what makes this issue my most significant concern for the future. Writing off the shooting at school in the media is entirely equivalent to writing off responsibility for the condition of loved ones. The indifference to accepting the problem and focusing on its consequences is particularly frightening.
