Challenges and Demands of a Senior Manager
The job of a senior manager is one of the most challenging professions. It requires a clear understanding of the business, experience in working with a company, good communication skills, and thoughtful planning of the work activities. Not surprisingly, many who work in this position have problems with stress, and the lack of free time exacerbates this problem. On the other hand, it presents a significant challenge, as it clearly demonstrates my expertise and the importance of being a senior manager in a company.
Since this job depends not only on the individual but also on the people around him, it is hard to call the position of a senior manager monotonous and predictable. The manager faces new challenges every day because no two days are the same. In addition, it is necessary to find time outside of work, which is very difficult to do, as this type of employment requires constant involvement in the process, which adds to the complexity as well.
Working with and without a manager is a distinct experience. After the appropriate person has been appointed, labor efficiency has increased by several percent. This means that this decision was right and that working under a person was necessary. According to the strategy, it is effective and demonstrates the company’s development, even in its early stages. Expanding the managerial staff and hiring experienced specialists are necessary for further improvement. To this end, it is proposed that more thorough recruitment of potential employees and training in the company’s field of work be conducted.
Essential Qualities and Personal Motivation
Thus, an employee applying for this position should possess several qualities that will enable them to be efficient and effective employees who perform their duties with enjoyment and satisfaction. The most important characteristics can be described as responsibility and a love for their work. Moreover, it is essential to mention stress tolerance because it is necessary for any job that is difficult to predict, as well as for creative thinking.
Communication skills and experience in this type of work are also worth noting (Wong, 2018). As the position of senior manager is one of the most challenging ones, a person who claims to hold it should be able to find free time under demanding conditions, even when work is constantly demanding, outside working hours. The opportunity to test myself in this profession seems within reach. I have always been interested in this type of work because it requires maximum concentration, professionalism, and the ability to observe others. From an early age, I have enjoyed expressing myself in various ways, communicating with others, and helping them.
Additionally, despite the intense competition in this field, I am prepared to compete for the position I am most passionate about. I possess all of the above qualities, making me one of the few individuals well-suited for this position. I enjoy teamwork, effective communication, and a responsible approach to task completion. More importantly, I possess experience in a similar field. I don’t find this job monotonous; rather, I find it the opposite. It is a challenging task, and I am fully prepared to take it on, as I enjoy tackling these challenges. However, despite all these skills, I still need to develop them. One cannot stop at their achievements and must constantly improve oneself because this is the only way to reach the top.
It is worth noting that one person should not be responsible for making hiring decisions for such an important position. The appointment is essential for the entire department, not just one individual. Therefore, a person who may be hired as a senior manager should be well-liked by their colleagues, have positive reviews, and maintain a positive outlook on life.
As mentioned earlier, it is not influenced by the skill of communicating with others and showing empathy in everyday life. If the environment does not accept the person who will be the potential new manager, then such a move will only worsen the team’s mood. Such a manager will not be listened to; consequently, overall labor efficiency will fall, directly affecting the company’s concept and direction of development.
Furthermore, this goes in the other direction. A manager needs an appropriate working environment with the people they have worked with. Then it will be much easier to find a common ground and pass the adaptation period more smoothly and unnoticeably, which is perfect for both the employee and the staff. A competent manager should be an ideal decision-maker, balancing the need to be accommodating and tough on their employees.
At the same time, a critical approach would enable the staff to address a certain number of issues. In this case, as a manager, I should be an observer and let the team resolve some problems on their own. This demonstrates that everyone in the department is valued and essential because their voices will be heard, ultimately influencing the outcome.
Growth and Professional Development
As mentioned earlier, my main problem is developing my existing skills. Not being able to stop and work on myself is both my strength and weakness. The constant desire to compete cannot be unequivocally called a positive trait, but it gives me the incentive to work and continue my development in the future.
When working in this position, I need to be more stringent and take a clear stance on the negotiating process. Sometimes, it can be quite tricky, but I think it’s just a matter of time. This problem will be forgotten once one has gained experience, because if someone has spent a certain amount of time with people and understands everyone’s capabilities and needs, they can work more effectively and know who to expect problems or pleasant surprises from.
It is relevant that some skills are missing that would greatly help when working as a manager. One of these is the need for outside support. I cannot say that this is paramount to me, but it is a feeling that would greatly aid me in mastering this profession. I would like to add that my personality type may be more suited to a softer approach than necessary for this type of work.
I need to develop stricter communication skills and engage in discussions with more specific views. However, I am confident I can overcome these disadvantages, as they primarily exist until the time spent learning and correcting them. This position is entirely suitable for me, and I am confident that I can cope with it while overcoming my significant shortcomings and gaining crucial experience. I will gladly prove myself to be the best I can and demonstrate that I enjoy my work.
