Sources of Literature in Nursing Problems

Nursing problems have greatly affected most health care systems in various countries. This is evident in both high-income countries and low-income countries. This paper seeks to find out whether the 15 articles have done the following: clearly identified and stated the problem, the nature of the issue of concern and any deficit available in the problem description; distinct statistical information provided in order to explain evidently the problem at hand or the issue of the nursing problem; demographics have been stated well with approximate values such as mortality, morbidity, rate of the problem occurrence and the rate of the incidence and prevalence of the issue among the populations; and whether the articles support a specified solution of the problem identified (Kim, 2010).

From the 15 articles I reviewed, it is evident that the research problem is clearly identified and defined. The nursing problem is observed in a community context. The hospital setting identified with the problems of nursing today is clearly highlighted in the articles. The problem addressed by these articles concern nursing challenges in the health facility setting. Some of those problems are: shortage of nurses experienced in the facilities due to brain drain; the mode of obtaining a nursing degree; inadequate nursing facilities within the hospitals; the minimum requirements for entry into the profession such as age, education among others. These problems affect the delivery of health care services resulting into early deaths. The problems may also increase the cost of obtaining health services among the target population (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2010).

An approximation of the statistical information concerning levels of mortality and morbidity arising from nursing problems has been provided. The rates of disease occurrence and prevalence rates have also approximated these articles. In so doing, the target populations have been located as well, the intervention measures and the outcome of the stated measures within a specified period of time. The question to be addressed is also clearly developed. The strength and gravity of the problems stated is shown evidently by the statistics approximated in the articles that result from the stated problems (Kim, 2010).

The significance and importance of learning the nursing profession is clearly relayed from the articles. Health care is all about nursing; treatment depends on how a patient is nursed during the recovery. The nursing profession is also important in that the economy of any nation greatly depends on their health. The solutions of such nursing problems are suggested by the articles. Some of the solutions suggested include: relaying sufficient funds towards training more nurses to curb the shortages experienced in the hospitals, more facilities be transmitted to the hospitals to ensure efficient nursing services, the minimum requirements of obtaining a nursing degree should be made flexible to accommodate all the capable applicants and the mode of training nurses should also be reviewed in order to ensure qualified nurses are produced to the society to take care of the population (Girdwood, 1996).

The proposed change that is aimed at solving the issues identified is well supported. Some of the solutions support include: putting sufficient funds towards training more nurses to curb the shortages experienced in the hospitals, the minimum requirements of obtaining a nursing degree should be made flexible to accommodate all the capable applicants and the mode of training nurses should also be reviewed in order to ensure qualified nurses are produced to the society to take care of the population, more facilities be transmitted to the hospitals to ensure efficient nursing services (Baer, 2001).
