Migration is one of the most important social aspects that entail moving from one location to another, where one can meet new people with cultures. The United States of America has been considered a perfect destination by many immigrants into their territories. Some of the major reasons that have enhanced different individuals from different countries worldwide to migrate to the United States of America include a good education system and an adequate market for their products (Heinz, 2021). China is one of the nations with the highest number of immigrants into the American territory surpassing India, which also has a large community in the United States of America.

The first group of Chinese immigrants into the United States of America was in 1801, when most of them came as construction workers, whereas other groups came in as farmers. The government of the United States of America also facilitated the immigration processes of the Chinese community into their territories because of the high economic gains they would benefit from the Chinese. They perceived Chinese immigrants as great competitors in different economic sectors in the United States of America. The stereotypes had different impacts on most Chinese immigrants’ social and economic well-being.
Sources of Stereotypes
Different individuals within the community use different perceptions regarding their way of life to develop stereotypes about them. Chinese individuals are amongst the minority groups that have faced the impacts of different stereotypes. The American native citizens have utilized different pre-existing views regarding their cultural orientation. An individual’s ethnic background also plays a major role in creating different stereotypes about a given community. The concept of race is where individuals are judged based on the color of their skin and place of origin. The Chinese culture is the main cause of stereotypes towards their community.
Decision Making
Perceiving the Chinese community in the United States of America in a given view may influence the choices and actions of the native citizens towards the Chinese immigrants. Different forms of stereotypes against the Chinese community have also affected the decision-making processes that majorly aim to ensure Chinese individuals’ well-being. One of the major sectors which have been affected by stereotypes against the Chinese is the law and justice system. The significant decision-making processes within the American law and justice system towards the Chinese community are greatly influenced by different stereotypes that exist about them. Poor decision-making in the American justice system has led to the adoption of harsh policies which do not favor Chinese nationals living in the United States of America. Many productive Chinese Americans have been locked up in different correctional facilities due to mass incarceration. The American Crime and justice department have also done little about the numerous cases of a biased jury selection process which has negatively impacted the judicial proceedings. A large population of Chinese nationals has been detained without a fair trial. The Chinese community has also suffered the negative impacts of biasness in jury selection. For example, most Chinese nationals who do not understand the American judicial system are not effectively educated about different judicial processes regarding case proceedings.
Policy and lawmakers in the United States of America government have also exhibited negative impacts of stereotypes towards Chinese immigrants on their well-being. The United States of America is the first nation to ban more immigrants from China. After implementing the Chinese exclusion laws, the native citizens affirmed that Chinese individuals could never fit into their society. The first Chinese immigrant into America played a significant role in ensuring the growth and development of America. They were considered gifted individuals in different sectors that would positively impact the American community. However, most individuals in the American community perceived them as competitors and started making decisions that would negatively affect the economic well-being of the Chinese. One biased choice was ensuring poor resource allocation to enterprises and sectors that would economically empower the Chinese community. Different community development initiatives were also out of reach to the Chinese community. For example, educational scholarships that would empower the young Chinese generation through education were mainly directed at Native American citizens.
Examples and Impacts of Stereotypes
Different forms of stereotypes about the Chinese have resulted in the Chinese community getting subjected to exclusion within the community. Chinese are stereotyped to be smart individuals who can utilize the available resources to develop an entity. This notion has led to them getting excluded in important matters affecting the community members. The government authorities majorly concentrate on other minority groups, such as the African American communities. The Chinese community has been sidelined in most processes that enhance development. The concept of gender inequality also increased due to different stereotypes regarding Chinese women in America. Most Chinese women have been victims of gender-based abuses in different sectors of America. Chinese women have been considered sex slaves, and they are required to be submissive to men within society. Only Chinese men are able to access different low-paying jobs in America due to discrimination.

The first arrival of Chinese citizens in the American coastal region was in 1790. The arrival of the three seamen marked the beginning of the massive immigration of Chinese individuals into American territory (Heinz, 2021). The good opportunities available in different sectors in the united states were the main reason for their migration. One of the major factors that facilitated their immigration into the unites states of America was when America and China became allies during the second world war. Discrimination against the Chinese community in the United States of America began in the colonial period.
Reasons why Chinese migrated to the United States of America
Some of the main reasons why Chinese individuals considered migrating to the United States of America were increased instability due to wars. China engaged in wars with other nations, which majorly affected the operations of most businesses in China. The development of different rebellious groups in China also led to conflicts with the government, which made many Chinese citizens migrate to the USA (Heinz, 2021). Civil disorder in China is also a major factor that encouraged many Chinese citizens to migrate into the American economy. Increased crime rate and corruption in different sectors made it unfriendly to conduct various types of business in China.
The different natural disasters also contributed to many Chinese nationals migrating to the united states of America. China is one of the nations that receive heavy rainfall globally due to the tremendous impact of heavy rainfall on the nation’s economy. The government uses huge resources to ensure that the businesses within the borders are treated equally. Many Chinese citizens have been affected by the heavy rainfall in America, leaving them with the option of migrating to the United States of America. Initially, most Chinese regions were affected due to poor disaster preparedness by the Chinese authorities (Heinz, 2021). Long spells of drought and famine in China led a large number of individuals to migrate to the united states of America in search of water and food.
Communication Issues
Different stereotypes within the community also affect how people communicate within society. Certain cultural practices and stereotypes regarding their cultural practices affect how they view and understand different communication processes. One of the major negative impacts of stereotypes in communication is that it contributes to a lack of empathy and enhance biasness when communicating with other groups.
Communication has also been affected by different forms of stereotypes, such as the stereotype threat. The concept of stereotype threat strives to ensure that an individual does not make any reasonable communication that is against society’s rules or views. For example, a man working in a female-dominated staff will hold on from communicating some concepts because of his gender. Some of the most productive remedies for stereotype threat are minimizing negative comments and encouraging an open flow of communication.
