Mission and Vision

Amazon

Brief History

Amazon began as an online bookstore, which later evolved into a marketplace for a wide range of goods and services. Jeff Bezos converted his garage into an online store for his business in 1994(Tou et al., 2019). Over the years, the company has grown exponentially by investing in dynamic and diverse fields, such as cloud computing and web services (Grewal et al., 2021). Vision and Mission

Values

Customer obsession is the most common value at Amazon, where clients are prioritized through innovation, inclusion, and diversity. Long-term thinking is one of the company’s essential values, which is why it has a robust research and development department that analyzes trends and ensures its operations are aligned with the future (Verhoef et al., 2021). The company values ownership and ensures that all employees develop a sense of belonging to improve the outcome.

Google

Brief History

Google is one of the most successful global companies, founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page, who were Ph.D. students at Stanford University in California. The 1998 candidates sought to demonstrate how vast amounts of information on the internet could be organized for practical use by the public (Nicoli & Iosifidis, 2023). Comparing and Contrasting the Selected Organizations

Similarities

Although the companies offer different services, they are all regarded as technology companies. Further, all companies leverage innovation and customer prioritization to create a global appeal. Technology and the offering of digital services are the core of all three companies, enabling them to hold significant market shares in their respective areas of operation (Kozinets & Gretzel, 2021). Technology, customer service, and innovation are the key common features across all the selected organizations.

Differences

The primary difference between the selected organizations lies in the businesses they conduct. While Amazon operates in e-commerce, Apple designs and manufactures consumer electronics. Google, on the other hand, is a search engine that categorizes information for use (Grewal et al., 2021). All three selected organizations have different work cultures, and their employees work in different environments. Amazon focuses on operational excellence, while Google values openness and innovation. Apple, on the other hand, focuses on user-friendly designs and hardware.

Conclusion

Apple, Google, and Amazon are remarkable technology companies that have experienced exponential growth since their founding. The companies have leveraged innovation to achieve competitive advantage, despite operating in different niches; their mission, vision, and values set them on the right trajectory to achieve the best outcomes.
