“The Bite of the Mango” by Mariatu and McClelland

Mariatu calls Santigie (her half-brother) her “Spirit Watching Over Me.” Who is the “Spirit Watching Over You”? Describe the person you believe or would like to believe is your guardian angel.

In every person’s life, there are special people who are of great value to them. These people can be parents, spouses, children, and so on. In addition to family, friends are particularly important to some people. In the book The Bite of the Mango is described A Spirit Watching over Me. This spirit is the half-brother of the main character, who is the protection and support for his brother. Even though not all people believe that a guardian angel exists, it is an integral part of life and security for some.

For some people, the importance of a guardian angel is at a reasonably high level. It is essential for people to understand that wherever they are, whatever they do, they are under the protection of a higher power, something compelling. The main character needed help, and a reliable person became his guardian angel (Kamara and McClelland 23). For everyone, the guardian angel appears in their way; that is, it can be both a spirit and a natural person. Often people accept a God-given defender whose face they have never seen or imagined, but there are exceptional cases in which close people become exactly the strongest defenders.

For me, the guardian angel is just this higher power, which cannot be seen, and in which it is essential to believe with all my heart. Undoubtedly, this is like believing in the existence of God, but the guardian angel is something else. This is an extraordinary power that everyone needs to consider in and possess spirituality in order to feel it. The feeling that I am safe comes unexpectedly, but always at the most difficult and meaningful moments. This situation makes us believe that this is not just the work of psychology, but something provided from above.

Mariatu notices that many young people in Canada don’t appreciate school and the value of learning and growing. Describe an experience in your life when you realized the value and importance of learning and doing well in school.

School is the stage of people’s lives in which, as children, they gain knowledge, get acquainted, and make valuable connections. It is school education that lays the subsequent foundation for further education and the whole of life in general. Some people tend to want to study at school, gain knowledge, and improve themselves. The main character of the book says that he would like to learn to read and write but was afraid to go to school (Kamara and McClelland 155). There is a category of children who are afraid to go to school because they are scared to do or say something wrong and will not be accepted by other children. Nevertheless, the knowledge and skills gained from studying at school are subsequently developed and improved at college and university. Some understand that school is an integral aspect of human development, although others do not realize the value and importance of schooling.

I am aware of the importance of school education, studying directly at school, and receiving a large amount of knowledge. I understand that I will not be able to achieve maximum success in obtaining higher education without good academic performance. A particular situation that gave me an understanding of the importance of school education was the story of my friend who had already graduated from school. He said that he did not strive to achieve success at school, and his academic performance was low. He entered a higher education institution, and it was challenging for him to study there. He had to retake the theory given out in the final grades of school to become more successful in college.
