The Caritas Process and Nursing Principles

In nursing, the role of care in the promotion of health and well-being, as well as in the prevention of disease in the theory of health care, is fundamental. It should be a foreground for any nurse to care for the person and form transpersonal relationships with patients. The professional and ethical obligations of nurses include treating patients with dignity and compassion. One must not only provide treatment and care services but also demonstrate respect, interest, sincerity, and empathy. All this contributes to positive outcomes when contacting the hospital and quick recovery of the client.

Nowadays, there are many theories regarding effective methods and principles of nursing care. One such model formulates the principle that care can be demonstrated in its ten healing factors or in translatable healing factors called the Caritas process (Cara, 2020). It is necessary to approach the situation from a holistic perspective, trying to form a transpersonal caring relationship with the patient while simultaneously applying its healing factors. The cornerstones of the Caritas process are sincerity, honesty, caring, relationships, inspiration, and respect (Cara, 2020). It is essential to go beyond the traditional objective assessment, caring for the patient’s more profound meaning in relation to one’s own situation with medical care.

Caritas process makes perfect sense to me as a nursing objective given that its foundational principles promote the patient’s health and facilitate the quickest possible recovery. With an emphasis on empathy, humanity, and equality within a framework of care awareness, the Caritas method speaks to me as a future nurse and would inform the way I work. It is crucial to my work that I am fully present with the person I am caring for and that I reinforce, support, and respect their profound system of values and their perception of care. Through a sincere relationship with clients, care, respect, and help, I can release the Caritas process and my principles in life, namely humanism and helping those in need.

Speaking of how the content and assignments met the course objective, one might notice that the class contributes to a better understanding of the fundamentals of nursing. One was able to achieve the goal of the course, namely the acquisition of new and the addition of existing knowledge about the fundamental concepts of care. Non-pharmacological approaches to pain management, including imagery, relaxation strategies, or alternative medicine, are just one example of how the suggestions from this week’s topic can be meaningfully implemented in nursing practice. In addition, the material guides and enables the proper kind of interaction with the patient, such as establishing eye contact and employing a therapeutic touch. As a result, I believe I have successfully grasped this week’s course content and derived meaningful potential practices that would assist my patient-centered nursing practice.

Ultimately, I believe I have made major accomplishments this week in terms of course material while also addressing a significant challenge. It is worth noting that I received a valuable theoretical basis for my future practice in patient care. In addition, I supplemented my knowledge with specific theoretical models and their principles, such as the Caritas process. I have learned that it correlates with my personality traits and values as a future nurse, which formulates success. One may argue that the content of the course was practical and contributed to the achievement of the goal, namely the acquisition of critical theoretical foundations. The only difficulty was the analysis of some theoretical models; however, with deeper reflection, it was effectively overcome.
