Politics have influence on all the aspects of life as a result of social interactions. Politics and the state interact in such a way that politics have a lot to do with decision making on social and other aspects of the people. Political institutions are playing a very important role in the change process. Liberal democracies that are associated with multiparty system advocate for equal representation in matters of governance.
The issue of separation of power has been a contribution of the liberal institutions to prevent certain institutions of government from possessing too much power. The rights of the minority groups have also been the focus of such institutions. This is in line with their struggle for equality in the distribution of national resources. The military as an institution of government has an important contribution in the on going process. This can be illustrated in the way the military is involved in social control responsibilities. The police force is also an important social change institution in the way it maintains law and order as people undergo social change.
For a more inclusive political system, there is need for equal representation to be improved. This is especially necessary for the minority ethnic groups that still have a role to play in matters of governance and national development. Affirmative action should be looked into to ensure that women are well represented in politics. This would provide a greater opportunity for them to be involved in policy and decision making process. It is important for institutions such as the military to remain neutral and protect the interests of all so as to maintain peace and harmony for the good of all in the society.
