Worker Dismissal Reasons: Heavy Workload, Professional Growth, and Job-Skill Mismatch

Heavy Workload

Before starting work, employees can predict the volume of tasks and the number of things they have to do, but often the reality is different. Completing each task requires not only working time but also personal emotional costs. The theory and its strength are that workers who are not accustomed to excessive workloads choose their well-being and resign.

In the course of their work, employees may suffer due to the company’s problems hiring the required number of personnel. In such situations, the weakness of the approach is that managers are forced to allocate working hours, shifts, and tasks unevenly, regardless of working conditions. An important opportunity is implementing strategies, such as proper workload distribution.

At the same time, burnout can be considered a threat, which will significantly reduce employee productivity. This section is significant and relevant because it directly affects employees’ welfare, productivity, and retention. It is acknowledged in the theory expressed that employees may face new challenges and incur psychological costs while performing their duties.

Workers may be required to achieve measurable results and face pressure regarding the speed and quality of their labor. Excessive micromanagement by leadership and constant additional instructions can lead to fatigue and resistance to changes in the work plan among staff. The effectiveness of performers depends on many components, such as the complexity and scope of the task or their awareness of the necessary algorithm of action.

Managers do not always take into account that personal factors influence process speed and instead put pressure on employees, ignoring their needs (Schmiedl, 2020). Enforcement of the policy may be achieved by trusting employees to do their jobs effectively and providing support when needed, which can lead to better outcomes and higher job satisfaction. Effective transmission, clear expectations, and regular feedback are key components in fostering a healthy work culture where employees feel empowered and motivated to be skillful.

Lack of Professional Growth

The motivation to reach greater professional and financial heights guides each person’s work performance. By setting their sights on a prosperous future, employees can enhance their productivity and efficiency and prevent burnout. The theory is that the realization that labor is aimed at increasing one’s position or salary motivates people to continue the persistent and challenging path of career development.

The threat is that thoughts of dismissal may arise among employees when they stagnate in their roles, and the company has limited opportunities for promotion (Schmiedl, 2020). Professional advancement is relevant to this reason because the concept underscores the essence of considering ways to promote workers’ personal growth. Employees who perceive a lack of career growth opportunities become disengaged from their responsibilities and sometimes even quit their jobs.

Employees need constant evaluation of their efforts from managers. Their performance is aimed at meeting the company’s needs and enhancing the experience. One weakness is that employees must be under constant supervision to ensure alignment with the organization’s goals and objectives.

An important strength is that, by regularly assessing their performance, managers can identify areas where employees may be falling short and guide them on how to improve. This helps ensure that employees are working towards the firm’s common targets and contributing to its success. The opportunity can be called the enforcement of the policy, which can be stipulated through regular performance assessments for employees to receive more support. Training is necessary to enhance their skills and knowledge, reduce layoffs, enable them to progress in their roles, and ultimately contribute more to the organization’s success.

Mismatch Between Job Roles and Employee Skills

Employees may face a mismatch between their desired position and their current one due to factors such as a misunderstanding with management or an incorrect assessment of skills. As a result of an incorrect interpretation of the employee’s skills during hiring, the company may assign the employee unsuitable work. The theory is that a mismatch between an employee’s desired position and their current role stems from a misunderstanding with management. This threat can occur when an employee’s expertise and interests are not properly communicated or understood by their supervisor (Schmiedl, 2020).

An employee may express a desire to take on more challenging tasks or responsibilities, but their manager may not be aware of this aspiration (Schmiedl, 2020). Regarding job roles matching employee skills, this part is significant because it emphasizes clear communication between managers and their team members. The weakness of the theory is that when employees are in roles that do not align with their skills or career aspirations, they become frustrated and less productive than usual.

An employee leaving his job is not always a way out of such situations, because encountering problems is common in all undertakings. The need to solve urgent issues forces managers to interact with workers to find a common solution. The strength is that such managers can quickly and efficiently influence the problem. This creates opportunities to regularly test skills and provide feedback.

The company should monitor not only productivity but also the comfort of colleagues and their continuous development. Enforcement of the policy may be achieved through communication and collaboration with staff and officials, which can help identify common solutions and prevent further escalation of issues. Employee turnover should not be seen as the only solution to workplace challenges, as addressing issues head-on can lead to a more positive and productive work environment.
