Introduction
It is no secret that alcohol and human health are incompatible things. The most significant influence of alcohol falls on the cerebral cortex. The higher nervous system suffers from this. A drunk person thinks hard and makes decisions difficult. The body of a person who drinks alcoholic beverages wears out several times faster than the body of a healthy, non-drinker. Alcoholic beverages affect all systems and organs without exception, weaken the immune system, and lead to frequent diseases. Alcohol is a toxic substance that causes both physical ailments and mood control problems.
Influence of Alcohol
In fact, alcohol can temporarily reduce the stress associated with uncertainty, health, finances, and relationships with family and friends. Still, the consequences of drinking even one glass of wine are incredibly significant. For instance, according to Akins (2019), alcohol slows the immune system, prevents the formation of new bones, suppresses hormone production, causes heart problems, and prevents the intestines from controlling bacteria and absorbing nutrients. Furthermore, alcohol can lead to loss of emotional control and unpredictable mood swings, increasing anxiety, increasing aggression, reducing restraint, or causing a sense of futility (Hardy, 2020). However, the consequences of chronic alcohol use are expressed in the development of serious problems such as high blood pressure, stroke, heart and liver disease, and cancer.
If a person drinks too much, they may have symptoms of overdose such as convulsions, vomiting, confusion, difficulty breathing, blunted reactions, low body temperature, slowing heart rate, and more. In addition, alcohol consumption during pregnancy can harm the fetus in terms of the development of the brain and other vital organs, physiological systems, and structures, determining the risk of congenital disabilities and developmental abnormalities in a baby (Hart & Ksir, 2018). Therefore, it can be noted that a strong drink is capable of causing severe damage to the entire body.
Conclusion
Summing up, it is necessary to conclude that alcohol is a poisonous narcotic substance that harms health both physically and mentally. A person may have problems with the heart, intestines, liver, bones, and endocrine system, as well as not controlling their feelings and emotions while in a particular state. Prolonged alcohol consumption can lead to severe chronic diseases. Moreover, alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited for pregnant women. Otherwise, there is a small probability of damage to the brain and essential organs of the fetus.
