Charities may serve many purposes and play a different role for both recipients and donors. In the digital era, it has become easy for people to show their support to any group they choose. Both donations and community services can be seen as expressions of one’s opinion or willingness to give back to society. In this paper, I would like to discuss reasons to donate to charities and perform community service.
As has been said, people support charity organizations for causes they perceive as critical for society or themselves out of selflessness. One’s understanding of the greater good plays a vital role in a decision to make a donation. Such a decision is something a person of high morals would consider as a way to restore justice. However, it is now also possible to provide definite proof of such a donation, making charities a way to earn respect. I think that charities serve as a crucial way for people to express their social position regarding any issue openly. At the same time, many individuals may avoid donating to charities out of the lack of funds, distrust towards organizations, or general disinterest in promoted causes.
I believe that the same type of selfless behavior can be promoted via community service. Students who will perform such a task may find themselves inspired to assist those in need with selfless service. They may acquire essential life experience, get acknowledged with societal issues, understand the value of mutual support, and become more empathetic towards others. In conclusion, community service and charity donations allow individuals to change the world for the better, as well as show their respect and commitment to socially important causes.
