Asian Discrimination in America

Racism toward Asian Americans was placed into law as they immigrated to the United States. There was a limitation of immigrants and concerns about workplace competition. The Asian communities mobilized and fought for their civil rights. Chinese Americans were the Asian groups in the United States. (Ruiz & Tamir, 2020). Chinese were discriminated and used as medical scapegoats for illnesses. The systematic discrimination branded them to be living in filthy areas. Racism shaped how the United States viewed Asian Americans. The Chinese exclusion act of 1882 suspended Chinese immigration for ten years. COVID-19 showed the persistent xenophobia against the Asian American. The hysteria of the Asian is not new since the US has a long history racism.

The yellow peril meant that Asians would invade Americans land and interrupt. Originated when Chinese laborers were brought to replace the black. COVID-19 is blamed for originating from China in the US. Asians who live in America are seen as foreigners and cannot be American citizens (Ruiz & Tamir, 2020). Racism is not a matter of the court but can be fought through public policy. Trump claimed that the Chinese government are responsible for the virus. The US has not progressed in their ideas of race. It has made some black people and the Asians to fear for their lives.

Debs broke the law by making his anti-war speech demonstrating the United States involvement in war. He led a ten-month strike fighting for the American railway union. He stood firm with the workers and was willing to go to jail. Debs argued that the central theme of the speech is socialism. Socialism in America began in the early 19th century with utopian communities (Victor, 2016). Debs is noted popular for his rhetorical skills and the most influential leader. Debs earned so many votes since he was the most famous socialist and loved. He also campaigned from the cell and gathered over a million votes.

Du Bois and Washington were great leaders of the black community. They used different strategies when dealing with the Americans’ problems. Du Bois challenged the social aspects of racism and urged the blacks to fight for their civil rights. He thought that Washington’s strategies were too submissive to cause Americans to stop struggling. Washington believed that black people should have economic independence. His main aim was to end the class of racial injustice among the black (Zinn, 2009). Du Bois opposed Washington’s policies on civil rights, but still valued his accomplishment. They realized that equal education was a priority to everyone.
