Assisting Nancy to Improve Social Interaction and Eat

Helping Nancy requires a collaborative effort between the teacher and her mother. Nancy is experiencing social problems as she appears not to fit in her age mates ‘ group perfectly. When children experience social conflicts, especially for children below ten years, an adult must step in and offer the essential help (Ogundele, 2018). The girl is a four-year-old, making it harder to advise a child of such age and perfectly take in instructions. However, the teacher and the parent can adopt some techniques to help the child fit perfectly in her age mate’s groups, relate with them, go back to school, and have meals with them.

First, the teacher and the parent must recognize and appreciate the child’s feelings and find the appropriate technique to handle the matter. As a teacher, I can encourage the mother can adopt a reward system to encourage the child to go back to school and eat (Kohls et al., 2018). If the child fulfills the former and duo, I have to buy her simple presents to develop eating and going back to school as a habit. In our class interaction, I can also ask the child to give some simple reasons why he finds it hard to eat. Even though she is four years old, Nancy may be having an important reason why she finds it hard to eat.

Identifying the reason and working towards solving it may make the child develop the habit of eating. If the situation does not improve, I may encourage the parent to seek professional medical guidance, as her child may be autistic and unaware (Endang et al., 2020). As the teacher, I may also encourage the other learners to engage in activities such as playing with Nancy. It will encourage Nancy to develop the habit of properly relating with the other learners, leading to them relating well during their meals.
