Authoritarian, Laissez-Faire, Democratic Leadership

There is no use denying the fact that the world dictates its own conditions for people. Coherent society appreciates strong willed people, who are able to respond to changing environment and become successful. Moreover, it should also be said that the skills of team work are also needed for a person to be able to interact with society which surrounds him/her. Under these conditions, the issue of leadership becomes especially significant. There are many various leadership styles and their choice depends on conditions under which a person functions. With this in mind, it is possible to compare different leadership styles and choose one which fits the best existing conditions.

There is a great number of different approaches to the definition of leadership styles, thus it is possible to outline three of them (“Leadership Styles” para. 2). They are autocratic, democratic and laissez-faire. The main sense of autocratic style of leadership lies in the idea that all decisions should be accepted by a leader alone without any consultations with the members of his/her team. Managers, who use this style, impose their will on other people and their decisions could not be doubted (“Section 3. Styles of Leadership” para. 5). This style of leadership can be opposed to democratic one.

Leader accepts final decision however, he involves all members of a team in the process of discussion and encourages creativity and initiative (“Leadership Styles and Types: Authoritarian, Laissez-Faire & Democratic” para. 4). Finally, laissez-faire style supposes a great level of freedom which is given to the members of a team. They are supported by all needed resources. It can be rather efficient though if all members of a team work efficiently and can manage their time (“The Six Leadership Styles for Effective Team Performance” para. 3).

With this in mind, having outlined these three main styles, it is possible to choose one which could be taken as the best under existing conditions. First of all, it is possible to say that any company should take a great number of steps in order to develop and remain popular and beneficial. Due to this fact, many different policies are created by officials of the company in order to guarantee its development. However, sometimes it can be rather complicated because of the high demands which exist in our society nowadays and the level of tiredness and stress which constantly increases.

Very often officials are not able to find the right solution for existing problem. Under these conditions, democratic leadership style seems to be the best choice. The thing is that common workers of a company will be able to outline their ideas and vision of the development of a company and officials will be able to take these ideas into account while accepting a general policy. Moreover, workers who have the best understanding of the main goals of a company could be given some new post and promote development of an organization.

It is possible to suppose that the given leadership style will have beneficial effect on the development of the company. New ideas obtained with the help of its usage can give a new stimulus for the companys development, while recognition of the fact that officials take into account opinion of usual workers can improve the atmosphere.

With this in mind, it is possible to conclude that democratic leadership style can be taken as the best one as it can help officials to develop their company and promote improvement of its functioning by increasing the level of satisfaction and trust of workers.
