Border Security in the United States

Safeguarding the state borders is traditionally regarded as one of the key priorities of home security. In its essence, border security is expected to shield a state from intruders and illegal migrants, thus preventing the threats of terrorism and economic instability. Therefore, creating a safe environment for citizens is the primary function of border security. However, the subject matter has advantages and disadvantages as a tool for keeping the state population safe. Because of the restriction and delays that it imposes on immigration and the related processes, it may hamper the development of political and economic relationships with other states.

The advantages of border security are mostly restricted to minimizing the threat of terrorism and addressing the economic threats that illegal immigration entails. While the specified advantages are quite a few, they produce the impact of impressive scale on the economic well-being and the levels of security within a state. However, using border security also means facing several problems, such as the drop in the quality of work delivered by migrants Moreover, the extent of competition in employment, especially for low-paid jobs that migrants typically prefer to take, is bound to skyrocket, shaking the economy. The issue of overpopulation as a result of the flood of migrant workers is also to be expected.

Although open boards, as opposed to border security, might seem like a perfect compromise in the current politically tense situation, the specified decision will also cause multiple ripples in the fabric of the state economy. As a result, the levels of well-being will eventually plummet, causing a recession. Thus, the issue of border security needs to be approached very carefully and with due mindfulness.
