Challenges in Modern Medical Care: Addressing Mortality Rates in Hospital Settings

Introduction

The level of medical care in a hospital is constantly changing as technologies and innovations develop. Still, the human factor slows down the growth of medical services. Mike English’s (2022) article describes the current state of hospital facilities and how medical services are provided. The author also demonstrates several critical problems in modern medical care in hospital settings. The main problem is that the mortality rate in medical institutions does not decrease, including after various interventions.

Main Body

Enhancing the level of interventions is necessary to improve the quality of work with patients in hospital settings. The article describes that developing a program to strengthen hospital practice requires a conceptual approach and a significant transformation of thinking to reduce mortality (English, 2022). To improve the quality of work, for example, in emergency care, an option was proposed to increase the speed of examination of admitted patients and urgent determination of them in the hospital. Although this solution has been implemented, some medical institutions are annoyed to be with patients needing emergency care.

Based on the above, the most critical problem of providing care in a hospital is that the mortality of patients does not decrease. In a more global sense, another significant issue is that options have not yet been found to reduce the number of deaths from interventions (English, 2022). Also, the rates of those deaths that occur due to the inability to provide emergency care to patients in need do not decrease. The author points out that mortality is greatly influenced by the lack of safety and quality of medical care for patients after their admission (English, 2022). The significance of this problem is high because patients admitted to medical institutions should receive high-quality services. However, in the end, some of them die, significantly reducing the overall effectiveness of medical care.

The functioning of one of the most critical areas of medical care is that a patient admitted to the emergency department should be immediately sent to the appropriate department. In addition, after determining the patient to the necessary department, doctors should provide appropriate high-quality care and monitor any interventions (English, 2022). To this day, these areas suffer greatly, which leads to a lack of reduction in mortality rates. To correct these errors, it is necessary to evaluate interventions that lead to mortality, as well as those that, on the contrary, help to reduce the number of deaths in hospital institutions (English, 2022). In addition, it is necessary to transform the admission system of patients to the emergency department so that those in need are more quickly distributed to departments and receive the required care.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Mike English’s article describes the modern medical care system and its significant problems in detail. These problems lie in the fact that urgent patients are not provided with timely care due to the imperfection of the patient distribution system, as well as the fact that a significant part of the interventions leads to death. Both problems are serious as they directly affect mortality rates in medical institutions. Nevertheless, several solutions will help fix the issues and lead to a reduction in mortality and an improvement in the quality of medical work.
