The main argument of the article “The Art of Living: Vipassana Meditation” is that, despite all the difficulties, a person can generate any negativity or impurity in the mind into a positive one. A person who constantly feels negativity in their mind, mental contamination, or impurity will not be able to coexist with peace and harmony. People become unhappy when they observe the behavior of others or when something happens that they do not like. The article offers a rather effective method of solving this problem: to ensure that nothing undesirable happens in life and that everything happens exactly as they want (The Art of Living: Vipassana Meditation, n.d.).
For this purpose, one needs to develop the strength to ensure that undesirable things do not happen and that everything one wants happens. However, it is not possible to control everything, so the most effective technique is to control not the events around people but their own thoughts and reactions to these events. The critical point is that controlling emotions or reactions to events should be correct, as normal breathing during meditation will help in two ways. An effective self-observation technique that shows reality in its internal and external aspects.
Peace and harmony are considered fundamental concepts that a person strives for throughout their life and often lacks. People lose their peace and harmony due to daily problems and world cataclysms (The Art of Living: Vipassana Meditation, n.d.). Many people broadcast negativity through their own experiences or unhappiness by passing it on to others. Unhappiness is transmitted in the atmosphere and makes other people unhappy. Therefore, despite all the cataclysms, people should try to live in peace with themselves and others. To be able to live in peace and experience happiness, people must recognize the root cause of their misfortunes and troubles.
