Core Values: Integrity, Authenticity, and Empathy

Introduction

Substantial differences in people’s value systems are critical for their productive cooperation and, consequently, successful societal life in general. Hence, the consideration of one’s priorities in this respect might be beneficial for determining their ability to rely on specific strengths when resolving issues, and in my case, these factors are reflected in explicit preferences. Personally, I emphasize the importance of integrity, authenticity, and empathy, which allow me to be an effective communicator, and they are originated from my childhood and the overall process of socialization.

Integrity

The first value, integrity, implies a high degree of honesty and serves as the basis of my individual morality in all aspects of life. It means the presence of solid principles used for guidance in the decision-making process when interacting with others, and the focus on this factor helps me maintain the reputation of a reliable person. This idea was developed under the influence of peers in kindergarten when I demonstrated respect for rules and followed them even in the absence of adults. Since then, the incorporation of this value in my life proved to be useful for not only managing my behavior but also being a positive role model for others. It also helped coordinate efforts when participating in group projects in any setting.

Authenticity

The second value is authenticity, and it effectively complements integrity while bringing clarity to my character alongside facilitating honest communication with others. Hence, it can be viewed as a quality essential for an accurate self-presentation while excluding the risks of being perceived as manipulative or simply fake. From this perspective, an authentic approach to life allows one to expel illusions and reveal actual strengths and weaknesses for successful communication. This value was acquired after observing one of my friends, who consistently refused to post erroneous information on social media, thereby letting people know that they are dealing with a real person with natural flaws. This experience showed that others begin to appreciate an individual who does not attempt to deceive them in any way and, subsequently, tend to trust them more.

Empathy

The third value supporting integrity and authenticity discussed above is empathy, and it is essential for maintaining healthy relationships while respecting others’ needs. It basically implies the ability to understand and recognize the differences between people and their varying perspectives, resulting in specific decision-making patterns. This provision is crucial for guaranteeing the lack of conflicts, and relying on this value makes my efforts more coordinated with a group. In my case, an empathetic approach to any type of communication was acquired at school when I realized that the inclusion of all participants in a task ensures positive results and allows examining numerous standpoints. The application of this value in other contexts led to similar outcomes, and the improvements in interactions with people were conditional upon this factor alongside the previously mentioned values.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the effectiveness of my communications with others is primarily supported by my core values acquired by socializing with peers. Integrity allows me to employ an honest approach to any task, authenticity underpins it by improving my reputation as a reliable person, and empathy helps establish contacts and maintain relationships. From this point of view, the examined combination of characteristics might be deemed appropriate for socialization in the long run while also being essential for promoting the feeling of self-worth in individuals.
