Stephen M. Edelson published the article on 30 January 2022. The hypothesis of this study was to examine if there is proof that this diagnosis needs to be restored. The study adopted a quantitative research design and involved people with behaviors and symptoms related to the existing diagnostic standards of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) (DSM-V) and those related to Asperger syndrome (AS) according to the earlier version (DSM-IV-TR). Results from this study revealed that people with ASD are more cognitively impaired based on their immediate environment. The study concluded that AS should be reinstated as a DSM diagnosis based on the significant differences between AS and ASD. The study limitation is people who were older than six years were classified into one response group. Results recommended for further studies in people who do not satisfy the accepted diagnostic standards for autism.
Aamir Al-Mosawi published this article in January 2019 on curative therapy for people with pervasive developmental disorders (PDD). This study hypothesis was to provide a retrospective observational study that describes the application of a new therapeutic practice for the medication of patients with PPD. The study used an experimental research design where 19 patients with PDD specifically AS and autism was observed at a clinic. The study results showed that all the treated cases exhibited enhancement and marked decline of the autistic characteristics with six patients depicting a complete disappearance of the key autistic characteristics. The 11 patients who did not get these treatments showed no declining effect in the autistic characteristics. The limitation is that this treatment cannot abolish the condition’s effect on speech and learning development. The study recommended further studies on this new medical approach.
Farnaz Faridi and Reza Khosrowabadi published an article in October 2017. The study hypothesis was to examine the behavior, language abilities, and motor skills of people with Asperger syndrome. The study used literature analysis and involved articles studied on Asperger syndrome. This study has shown that there are many results on abnormalities of cognition, behavior, and brain functions and structure in AS. Previous studies have shown that the most prevalent features of AS people are obsessive and stereotypic behavior and abnormalities in communicative and socio-emotional behavior. Study limitations show that to better understand cognitive and behavioral abnormalities needs a better knowledge of a neural change in AS. Further studies are recommended on the neural alteration in Asperger syndrome individuals.
Individuals with ASD earlier referred to as Asperger’s Syndrome (AS) can benefit from early diagnosis and utilize support networks. Individuals with diagnosed AS have challenges with social skills and socializing. Paediatricians are best preferred to properly analyze a kid’s developmental pattern and their relative weaknesses and strengths. The best treatment strategy for AS is building on their strengths and supporting growth in areas in which they have weaknesses. Limitations show that no drugs are specified for AS treatment. There is a need for further recommendations on specific medications that can treat AS.
The video was posted on May 22, 2020, and the source is True Tube with the speaker being Steven. Steven speaks of striving to keep friendships, or contain conflicts; he always finds himself being left alone and feeling lonely. The speaker explains some of the known features of Asperger syndrome such as poor social skills, obsessive behavior, ineffective non-verbal communication, and lack of empathy towards others. Limitations of this video are features differ among people and that Asperger’s has a sophisticated diagnosis, mostly confused with other bad behavior, and depression but counselling enhances his social interactions.
Patrons Choice posted this video on October 27, 2018, explaining the early signs of Asperger’s. Asperger’s people have sensory issues where they are sensitive to smell, noise, and touch. Further, Asperger’s children have special interests as the speaker and are obsessive about things. They have a learning disability even though Aspergers perform well in the curriculum. The limitation of this video is not stating well the signs in a simple way for easy understanding of early signs of Asperger Syndrome.
