Nevertheless, domestic violence remains an extremely traumatic phenomenon that corrupts the psyche of a person and results in the emergence of numerous mental problems. For this reason, the increased comprehension of the aspect is fundamental for its discussion and further elimination. Thus, domestic violence is nowadays defined as any physical or sexual violence performed domestically by any member of the family (CDC, 2017). For this reason, the problem becomes even more complex as a significant number of victims prefer not to report its incidence to avoid deterioration in their family life or relations with a partner. In this regard, the issue becomes even more common than people realize. At the same time, it might lead to multiple injuries, deaths, and mental disorders. That is why it is crucial to increase peoples awareness about the issue to reveal unreported cases and improve the outcomes.

Regarding the pivotal aim of the research, the target audience encompasses a broad range of population groups as every individual might be affected by the phenomenon. However, we could narrow the audience and potential readers to three particular groups. The first one includes specialists like social workers, psychologists, or other investigators who might face the consequences of domestic violence or work with people who suffered from the issue. The second group is victims who experience or have already experienced violent behavior towards them and look for support or some possible solutions. The third category of readers will be comprised of potential victims of domestic abuse. In such a way, the paper encompasses a wide range of readers who might be interested in it. Thus, as it is considered a negative phenomenon, the audience is expected to be on the side of the argument.

As has already been stated, the comprehensive investigation of the problem demands a clear definition of the phenomenon and its most important aspects. Thus, the negative impact on womens physical and mental health is often caused by their partners through domestic violence (Guedes et al., 2015). Additionally, children living in families characterized by violent behaviors might also suffer from diverse mental disorders or psychological problems. Moreover, in accordance with the recent statistics, elderly people are also subject to domestic violence and might suffer from its manifestations (Turner, Shattuck, Finkelhor, & Hamby, 2017). In the majority of cases, they are not able to protect themselves and prefer not to attract public attention to their problems (Guedes et al., 2015). For this reason, it is critical to discover cases of aggressive behavior to avoid further deterioration of the situation or victimization among individuals living in a hostile setting. Victims might also suffer from the existing trend of victim-blaming peculiar to the modern society that results in the lack of attention devoted to the issue and wrong attitude to domestic violence.

Speaking about the problem, one should also remember that the development of technologies provides abusers with an opportunity to use digital devices to spy on people and interfere in their private life. Moreover, it could trigger an outbreak of violence and undesired behaviors among family members (Costa et al., 2015). For this reason, investigators should keep in mind the fact that innovations might be used for diverse purposes, including those that deteriorate the quality of peoples lives.

Analyzing the peculiarities of domestic violence, racial factors should also be mentioned. Thus, they could affect the dynamic of the issue and result in a victims decreased ability to protect themselves because of the prejudiced behavior or stereotypes that exist in society. Being another form of discrimination, violence correlates with existing problems related to intolerance and significantly deteriorates the situation (CDC, 2017). Thus, by the statistics, women are more subjected to abuse, which means that they belong to the risk group. It also demonstrates that gender issues remain topical for the coherent society, as people believe in stereotypical models describing women as inferior to men. That is why the comprehensive investigation of the problem should come along with an improved understanding of discrimination and biased attitude to particular groups. This factor also evidences an enhanced significance of the issue and its central role in modern society as it touches upon several spheres of human activity and reveals the most nagging problems.
